Well, Im a new cobalt owner and Iv herd talk about G85 being factory LSD. So I went for a gander and this is what I found. Is this the right G85? It would certainly brighten my day

And just for giggles a picture of my toys
2007 cobalt ss/sc
2007 yamaha phazer mtn
2001 ford fucus zx3 turbo

yes that would indicate that your car has the G85 package. yours is an 07, and should have the Recaro front seats that is another indication of a G85 package

Both can still break loose with non LSD trannys. Taking a corner and seeing if your inside tire breaks loose is a good indication. Or just checking the option tag like he's done haha.

Didn't realize that just seen so many videos of dumb cobalt owners doing burnouts and only one tire spins.

Wrong.

You can spin both tires, and leave even marks with an open diff during a straight line launch.

What's so hard about lifting the trunk mat, and looking for the code G85, haha??

If you want to perform an actual road test, nail the car while coming out of a turn. This is where the G85 package helps.

What he said. /\

I'd post up a lot of information about diffs - but I'm tired of people arguing on heresy and not facts.

LSD is for cornering, don't use WaterWetter in your IC system, only use the stock fluid in the trans, etc.

An open differential drives both wheels at the same speed in a straight line, the difference is in the power transfer between the wheels when cornering...I'll leave it at that.

This is completely unhelpful. But when anyone else read the topic did they think *waves hand* "These are not the droids your looking for" - Obi Wan? lol.
