0.048"?

You should run them tighter than that. I think stock for an SS is 0.040"

after calling around my only choices around here right now are
autolite's the iridum or copper..
and acdelco iridum

so i go to change my plugs and guess what...
looks like i have 3 ngkR pfr6t's and 1 acdelco 12610767 iridium...

Don't re-gap Irridums. Don't use shitty Autolites either. While I'm at it, don't waste your money on Irridium plugs at all. Get some NGK coppers, find a heat range that you like, play with gap until you get the best results. Rinse and repeat every other oil change.

Gap setting vs. Pully size

I have always had a problem with spark plugs myself to tell you the truth. There is always 1 out of the 4 that goes bad and I replace them all. This has happened 3 times in the last year. I had a set of Iridiums from NGK that were 1 step colder since my Cobalt is Stage 2 and my car didnt run like it should. Anyways I read earlier (and I'm trying to find the thread or website again) where it said showed that there were diffrent gap settings for diffrent size pullys. And if you ask most part stores they will tell you the stock gap setting and nothing else. Last time Advance Auto told me that the gap setting was .045 Now where I read earlier, it said that with a GM stage 2 pully the gap setting should be .040 (basically as you downsize your pully and gain in boost the gap goes down in .005 increments) This was all tested and found during the tuning process and dyno tests it should give you a pretty good idea about gap settings. Nevermind, after all that typing I remembered where I saw it.... Goto http://cobalt-addiction.com/performance.htm and click on the igniton tab and it shows the table with the gap settings and briefly explains it. I hope this somewhat helps.. BTW I have Autolite Coppers and they run really good compared to some I've had in the past!

You can gap iridiums. People on hear say you can't, but you just have to be careful not to touch the tip. Do not put plugs in the SS/SC with a 0.048"gap it will run like ****. When I pulled my factory plugs which were NGK iridiums they were gapped at 0.035".

sparkplugs.com and you'll have them in 2 days, can get whatever you want.

but .048 is not the right gap.
