Getting knock
Getting knock
So last night I went racing after I stalling my zzp stg 3 kit and getting a trifecta stg 3 tune. So my question as I was going done the track I was getting on my interceptor KR3 a reading of up to 5.0 during the hard pulls my iat2 during the runs was up to 160+*. So my understanding of what knock is, is that the PCM is retarding timing correct? And does this mean it's leaning it out and making it dangerous for the engine. I am going to get the tuned looked at. But I wanna understand the issues properly. So if I have it wrong can someone explain it to me in laymans terms? Thanks.
What yellow dragon didn't mention is he is on a 2.8" pulley and it was 27 degrees celcius out. 160* is not too much after a 1/4 mile pull with just a H/E as a cooling mod. Thats what my car IAT2's were after a pull when I just had my my OTTP stage 2.
My personal experience when I added my heat exhanger, dual pass and option b which I did all at once I didn't really notice a drop in IAT's after a pull but found the temps recouped much faster. It was meth/water injection that actually lowered my IAT's. I think the tune is too agressive which is causing his knock. I ran OTTP's canned tune with their stage 2 for a few months with no cooling mods and never got any knock at all.
