Gm performance clutch limits
Gm performance clutch limits
Money is a little tight right now but I need a clutch to be able to bring the car to the track. I was wondering if anyone was running a gm performance clutch with with over 300 whp and torque. Does it slip when you launch the car or bring it to the track. I've run the spec stage 3 before and love the holding ability but right now I'm only running the stock one and it slips slightly on the street and really bad at the track. It slips to the point were I have to back off the throttle for it to stop slipping. I know The gm performance clutch is only rated to 300 hp but I'm hoping gm is just low balling the number.
I heard it's the same clutch as the stock lnf clutch and I know alot of those guys are easily over the 300 wheel marck so I figured it had to be better than what they advertise. Your probably making way more power than me with your setup and have minimal slip so I should be fine. Does it hold pretty good with repeated lauches?
I asked which clutch to go with a little while back and got and majority of people said GMPP. Guys with TVS's were going to the track with no problems. I'm in the same boat as you so I picked a GMPP clutch up. Hope to install it within the next few weeks.
I hear ya. I'm a little worried myself. I run drag radials at the track so I hope it holds up. For $250 it's tough to say no to it lol
I replaced my first spec clutch after 45k miles when the throwout bearing broke and then I replaced the second spec clutch after like 30k miles with the stock one because it was jaming at high rpms and I was bending clutch rods and eventually shattered the inside of the master cylinder. I wanted to make sure it was the clutch so I replaced it with a new stock clutch that I had laying in my garage that came with my second motor.
