a smaller pulley would make it run leaner since it would be spinning the blower faster forcing more air with X amount of gas injected vs a 3.0 pulley or bigger with the same X amount of gas. make sense?

Question How reliable is Stage 2 over stock?

Just want to get an idea from you guys on the reliablity of Stage 2.

Theoriticly in the long run will a stock SS S/C hold up longer then a Stg II one?
If not or If so please comment why.

Thanks guys I using this as a arguing point with my folks so I can justify getting the Stg 2 I just bought installed.

It should be pretty dang reliable considering GM warrenties it for 100,000 miles.

that's what i was thinking.

I don't think you'll get the answer you're looking for, though. You can't make a comparison without a result. The only way to compare this would be to study lots of cars over a decade or so and then get the number that broke down over that time period to figure out what percentage of those cars that broke down were Staged vs. those that were not. Our cars have only been out since 2005.

To help a little more though, GM wouldn't warranty it if it wasn't going to last as good as the car itself. 2nd, every car will have it's problems. So, since the car could break down either way, and the S2 is under warranty, you might as well have 245 horses running the same risk.

Stage 2 is great. Its covered by warranty, better fuel economy, the eaton screams louder so deer wont jump onto the road, it makes girls get wet, and the emissions produced will not kill songbirds or melt glaciers.

More Opinons Please!!!!!

I have to make a compleing argument with my father since his names on the title. (He had to cosign for loan)
His reason is it will tear the car up that much faster and it's supposed to be my Daily Driver.
Fair Warning thou he use to be a GM Tech.

Please I really want to get Stg II on the car for the enjoyment of it. I'm not gonna be racing it and at worst I'll get on it once in a blue moon but who here hasn't?

Thanks to the guys who've posted ahead of me I appreciate it.

One word. Warrenty.

They will pay for the problems it causes. In theory.

But seriously, it is warrentied. GM is not gonna release a kit to the public that they are going to have to repair every car it gets installed on.

Your one major arugument that your farther might bring up is that with the smaller pully, the supercharger will spin faster. This will in turn where out the bearing faster. Now, how many miles the original supercharger will last and then how long it will last with the smaller pully is the question.

Stage 2 should have been how the car came from the factory. It's just as reliable as stock.

the stage 2 tune also most of the time fixes the iratic idle issue we have, as well as better gas mileage.
