Gm stages claims ...

Anyone notice that they claim ALMOST (less than) 0,3 second gain on a quarter mile ? That is waaaaay too low for a claimed 31 hp gain !!!

My guess is that a Bone Stock Cobalt SS + stage 1 will put down roughly 230 WHP on a Dynojet, not more.

Any thoughts ?

I'd say about 0.3 is about right. I look at it this way, for every 10hp is .1 in the 1/4 mile.

It says .7 for stage 2.

However:

You'll see 243 most likely with stage one, given a stock will typically dyno 210-212whp.

I kinda would have to agree there . Given the average wp #'s , stg 1 should be solidly in the 240-250 wp range for most people ....if the rated clains hold up . They underrate everything else and the stock tune is so restricting .

GM Stage 1 plus a mafT to fine tune a 2.8 pulley should be the magic till the aftermaket can tune the pcm's .

I ordered stage 2 and I have a before dyno, with my exhaust and the stock pulley

I will go to the dyno shop and do another dyno don't worry.

A couple of things.

First, I don't think that the kits are necessarily underrated. Just because the car may be, doesn't mean the kits definately are.

Second, stage 1 may only increase peak HP in the upper RPM band, while stage 2 with the pulley likely will increase power over the entire RPM band.

Just my thoughts.

Will be interesting to see a graph of the dyno. I'm guessing peak HP will be observed past the 6500RPM rev limiter that's on the car now.

When they say 241(???) hp for the stage 2 kit , that is going off the grossly underrated stock 205 hp figure . Anywhere GM lists a total advertised power # with the either stg 1 or 2 , they have to go from 205/200 , hence underrated . Even there dyno graphs are skewed to show that .

0.3 seconds on the 1/4 takes HP.. Sounds about correct..
