GMPP Extrude Honed Manifold Install is a sucess!

You got done installing my GMPP manifold.Install took abook three hours( including stopping for lunch break). It seems to make a difference. The car feel alot stronger though the midrange rpm range. It also has alittle deeper tone to the exhaust now.So far I am happy with it!

Congrats on the new manifold! I noticed more HP and smoothness in the shifting also.

Do you actually care about performance? Then why did you waste your money on a manifold?

We need a Performance FAQ in this forum. It'll help noobs from wasting there money.

Well there are those who want to protect their warranty and stick with GMPP. (like myself) So the honed manifold is the only option in this category...

Any non-GM parts give my dealership something to blame problems on. Even if it's a weak argument it still means I have to fight them on it. Dealerships hate doing warranty work because they don't make anything off of it. Give them any wiggle room and they'll take it. Back when I had my ls it got hit and required a good deal of body work. Once the work was done there was a rattling in the engine compartment. When I brought it back to them they blamed it on my exhaust and intake and wouldn't look at it. Having to deal with that sh*t is a huge pain in the ass. That's why I'm staying GMPP and coughing up the $$ for dealership installs instead of doing it myself. It's just not worth the hassle.

Your situation is an isolated incident. There's not much dealerships can blame an exhaust on.

just to let the noobs know....The cti header from CA my friend was running lean, blew his engine, cylinders 2-4.....Now gm said his header was clogged in one of his flanges basically making his car blow up....Plus there wasnt that big of a difference in what the header gave him compared to the gm manifold and zzp downpipe....I mean **** wats it going to be 5 horsepower?? Id rather take safety measures than hurt my car anyday, and the gm honed manifold does just that it makes the car breath better maybe not as good as some quality headers out there but there honestly isnt any!!!!!

Vibrant- leakeage problems
ZZP mid lenth- )2 extension problem
ZZP-shorty header same as the cti or at least in looks and wouldnt wanna risk it
CTI- Sucks
Clear Image- still hasnt came out and will prolly be the best header on the market for us
Honed manifold-Not till this day Have i seen a problem with this Manifold may i call it
Pacesetter-wouldnt spend my money

More info on this situation please. A clogged header isn't going to make you run lean. A clogged header will cut power. My guess is that he blew his engine because he tried to do too much on stock or 42lb injectors and had a lousy tune.

oh yes your def. rite he had 42lb injectors with the 2.8 pulley tuned by DOC no aem wideband or fuel management regulator to tell if hes running lean or rich or ne gauge to tell him if he has knock....Either way he still had a clogged header which also helped to the fact that he was already running lean

So how bad is the install without using a lift? Is it easier to access the exhaust studs on the head from above or underneath the car?

Actually, the ZZP mid length comes with an o2 extension now so no problems with it.

I know im gonna but the honed manifold. Ive noticed like you guys were saying, when I did stage 2 the car ran smoother, and when I did the gmpp cat back it ran and shifted even smoother. So I really want to get it.

Did you actually see the header clogged?I dont see how a header primary will get clogged to the extent it will block all gasses from coming out.If that was the case,he would have drivability problems and a check engine light long before his motor blew up.And alot of people have had problems with there cat clogging. And im pretty sure they never lead to blown motors. It had to have been the tune.
