Good starting mods?
Good starting mods?
Looking to start getting a few mods. Was thinking first thing would be an airbox mod, just for a little more noise from the blower. Then maybe a good header, downpipe, exhaust combo. What are good header choices?Thinking zzp downpipe, then need some suggestions on exhaust, if even needed?
Pulleys and tuning down the line. Just looking for a good starting point. Read the mod sticky at the top, and was thinking about route 2 with some extras.
Suggestions?
Mike.

get some 60s and a tvs.
if thats too much, do 60s and a 2.8" pulley on m62
if not that, go 42s and a 3.0
if your not feeling any of that, do gms2
if you dont want to go any faster, do exhaust mods and airbox mods first
im just messing around. but zzp is definitely a good place to look. the stock air intake flows great, so airbox mod is a good idea. no reason to spend money where its not needed for an air intake

So I guess I'll start with the mailbox mod and then.save some money and get a gms2 or zzp s2. So injector up, pulley down and then look into exhaust. Got it. What are good exhaust options. Zzp downpipe? Bad mab header? Exhaust system? Worth it? Looking for 250 whp eventually.
The stock exhaust mani is good to 275-300hp or so depending on who u talk to.
The stock down pipe sucks ass. Get a Zzp 3" catted with a 2.5 exit, it will bolt to Ur stock catback. The stock catback will be fine for 250 hp.
Get some gms2 42lb injectors and a 2.8 pulley. Stay away from the 60lb injectors they r ****. If anything get some 50lb from Zzp. I personaly suggest the gms2 42lb injectors.
A intake will have minimal gains but it's good for noise and its easier to Get to the filter i think.

Gmoney06, please look around the site.
There are tons of threads that will help you out.
I'm with you on this.
I've been running the GM 42's for 6 years now w/o any issues.
Tested many different setups with them as well. Pushed them further than most have on this site.

60s are tried and true. but, if you are looking for a better injector though, injector dynamics have the best injectors available. they are pricey though. the bosch injectors do seem nice, but no one has published the injector data for them yet. thats the great part about ID, is that they send you every bit of fueling information for their injectors. copy and paste into hptuners
people still use 60s, because the data is published for them.

Thanks for all the info guys. So what I'm kinda reading is header and catback are more sound mods unless I'm gonna push past 250 or so. I'll be doing lots more research, just figured some of you that have been into this little longer would have some great suggestions, and it seems I was correct.
Mailbox mod, damn autocorrect. But look for that how to anyways.

They just arent req'd until you start making higher levels of power.
For instance, you would be perfectly fine with a legit GMS2 kit and stock exhaust, but will def make more power with a full exhaust.

yea I got an idea for you use the search the button there is more info on here then you can imagine so be smarter then the typical parrot on css.net and educate yourself https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...-guide-217195/
I will do tons of research before actually modding. Just looking for some suggestions from the more experienced ss/sc guys who have been there and done that. Not looking to have info spoon fed as I do love researching on my own. I will search this forum as well as others to get as much info as possible and make sure to post more technical questions in this section from now on. Not an ecotec newbie, just a ss/sc newbie.
Mike.
