Green gunk for cause of high IAT'2?

ive had high iats for the past 2 weeks or so...so a couple of my buddies routed my opt b a different way to see if it would fix it...and it helped a little but they were still 150+

so we took the bleed line out of the stock heat exchanger and it looked like there wasnt even a hole there so we got a paper clip and cleaned it out and it was just a bunch of green gunk .. so i put more water in and some water wetter also and everything is good now

i just wanna know what that green gunk was and if there is more in the stock heat exchanger

Hmm that's pretty strange.

Green gunk almost sounds like some sort of copper corrosion residue. What kind of coolant mixture were you using in your heat exchanger?

At least you fixed your problem. I don't know how your opt b. was set up, but always remember to make the expansion tank the highest point in the cooling system.

Yeah, I used to run an 80/20 mix....

I say just keep an eye on it. Did you flush the system out real good with some fresh water?

when dexcool has oxygen trapped in the system it forms a type of gooey gunk. It happened to me in my Grand am. I don't know what color it was but that might be your problem, that is if your using dexcool

Good point. That could have been the issue.

ya. That was the first thing that came to mind when I read "Gunk". I'm kinda leaning toward swapping out the dexcool for the green stuff for that reason alone

The only way to really be sure would be to do a flush and remove the laminova cores to see if they are plugged. I have a ported intake manifold and will be switching to the green stuff when I change it over
