I think it would be badass to see a cobalt spit flames from time to time.

Running catless to most people on here makes them think their Cobalts are high performance...

Amen. My Stock cat went after less than 5000 km's. Covered under warranty mind you, but who wants to lose their car to the stealership every 5000 km's because of the cat?

Interesting. Ive owned over 40 cars with cats and not a one ever got clogged. The Cobalt now gas 13K and its cat is fine and if it ever did get clogged its warranty. Around here running catless is a $2500 fine and I know a dozen people that have been fined exactly that in the last 6 months while being pulled over for speeding and such and officer checked for the cat(s) being there.

Thats your own personal experience and im making my own desicions to prevent mine. Also out west is alot different on what they bother people for and what they dont compared to out here on the east coast in CT. I can give examples if you want to get into specifics. Also out here I can throw 20 to the inspection place and they overlook it :-) Dont have to go until 2011 tho.

This is in California. A few months ago the cops in many cities were hell bent on checking emissions on any suspect looking cars (stickers, wings, loud exhaust and such). Finally took the rear spoiler off the car to quit being noticed by cops and hassled. Once taken off no more hassling period. They get pulled over and do a full car inspection for non approved aftermarket parts or emissions equipment missing. One Saturday night they closed off a parking lot with about 75 cars in it and went car to car opening hoods and checking. No one got out of the parking lot without being checked.

All tickets given required each and every car to go to a referee station and be inspected under hood (and they put it up on a rtack to check all under chassis exuast and compoments also such as cats). They also do a decible test on the exhaust. Cops around here are fed up with "ricers". Unfortunatly any car that visually looks fast or possibly modded with bragging stickers on it gets pulled over. I got pulled over in my SD-455 Pontiac a few months back and the officers were arguing with each other if it was suppose to have cats or not. I was laughing my azz off that they didnt know crap when I told them my car was pre cat years.

Ive been pulled over a few times just cause I have road race tires on my Z06 and its loud with its 700 rwhp and a funny whine under the hood but all smog legal. The cops commented each time I obviously race it and why am I running those types of tires on the street and why is their a roll bar in it and harnesses. I said you never know when im gonna race it so I leave em on. I got the lecture about street racing but no tickets. Fugg em if they cant take a joke.

Nice. I had been told that in California, if your car fails emissions testing, that they automatically tow and crush your car. I guess that just goes to show that you can't trust everything you hear.

Out here in Alberta, they can barely hire enough cops to take care of the rising triad gang problems, and ticket people for actual unsafe traffic violations, let alone climb under your car. If they ever did question your cars emissions, they would wind up getting called away to an accident before they could do anything anyways.

**** in my town there is ACTUALLY a cop parking only sign in FRONT of a Tim Hortons... tommorow I should snag a picture of that....
They honestly dont give two ***** out here what you have or done have. If you get caught doing something stupid then yes theyll look at everything just to make your life hell. If your like me and have HIDs, 5% tint all around, catless exhaust, and just dont give a **** but obey speeding and yielding to people in crosswalks and whatnot your fine. If I was to go flying thru downtown late at night at 5,000 rpms in third the whole way then thered be a problem.... but i dont so theres not.
