i have a couple of questions... i am highly interested in purchasing one of these kits. my goal is the 400whp range, is that possible with stock internals & one of the kits you will offer for the 2.0? low 12s would be great with traction & drive train modifications.

I'd like to emphasize that Joe's car (as shown here) is but one iteration of the system, and that we'll also be doing a Super 20G equipped version that would be more comparable to the flow range you mention with GT28 and GT30. This Super 20G turbosystem will be aimed at those looking to make in the 300-500 HP range.
cool, make since man.

thanks for the answer.

now how 'bout that intake mani us serious and already turbo guys are diein for...

WIth all due respect! WTF..... put out something I can buy! I have been waiting and waiting. now I am about ready to get rid of the car cause I dont believe it will ever be done. I may as well get a new car with a turbo. well? what can you say.....

It's a reasonable request! Unfortunately, GM has thrown us curve after curve with Cobalt, what with three different engines, automatic transmissions, computers that change from year to year, and a factory forced induction model that cut deeply into the available market for aftermarket forced induction. They could have made a lot more money on this car, and my life much easier, had they resisted the urge to have so much diversity. And now comes the turbo model, for what is effectively the FIFTH engine design in this car so far!

Had we not played with the twincharger system for a year, we'd have been here much sooner, but here it is, in all its hi-HP GT35R glory...and the 20G system will follow shortly. I'm still not convinced that a viable business case exists here for either system, but I am a man of my word, and I am going to see it through as promised. God willing, I won't regret it!

I'm confident the LSJ will be durable at 400 WHP with stock internals and our 20G system, and that's enough to get deep into the 11's with good traction, power management, and worth-a-damn driving. Heck, my son did it at the tender age of 17 in his Sunfire! While he certainly was nothing less than a ringer, he showed it's there.

Shoot an email to sales@turbosystem.com with a note to 'Keep Me Informed' on this system, and we will do just that!

hey bill, any specs on the hot side of your used 35r.

any thoughts to what size you'll use for your 20G system as well?

It's an 84 trim, .63 AR turbine side.

The Super 20G is our proven TDO6 20G-TDO5H-10CM2. Thats a 20G compressor section mated to a TDO5 turbine side, with a 10CM2 AR.

Think of it as the Mitsubishi equivalent of a T3-T4 Garrett, just without the 1960's design characteristics

AHHHHHHHHH HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you sir, you just proved a point to myself.

yea, i know it sounds crazy.....when i was graphing out car i came up with either a T3 flange with a .63AR or the next step up T4 with a .58

and the 10CM hotside on your 20g also sides well with my past research.

nice work

some very nict work.... Subscribed..

any chance of a few more pics of the intake manifold..
is this just a unit over the stock manifold, or does this replace the whole unit, as i see you use a air-to-air intercooler, and not a water-to-air cooler.

The GT35R may seem large, but rest assured, there's considerably larger units that can be fitted to a 2.0 liter!

As a point of comparison, consider our GT4088R-equipped 2.0 2003 Sunfire. Still streetable, even with a turbo considerably larger than the GT35R, with an effective usable powerband from 5000-9000 RPM. Joe's car will develop usable boost in the 3000 RPM range, and the gentle onset of the GT35R will actually enhance street traction, with the maximum available power on the street optimized by the boost controller system's numerous power level settings.

I've done considerable development of FWD vehicles with high power, and Joe's car will represent a fabulous mixture of street capability with brutal dragstrip and dyno capability. Hey, we can't let the Honda boys have all the fun now, can we? 10 and 11 second steet Ecotecs are possible too!
I used to drive a V8, I am used to the power always being there. I've ridden in several friends cars that had larger turbos, and yes while they were very fast, when they initially floored it, it was about as fast as a stock honda civic I like the supercharger because it makes the 4 cylinder behave like a V8. Getting 15+ psi at 3000 rpm the instant you hit the gas, is the way I like it. The only other turbo car I've seen that was similar to that, was a stock turbo SRT-4, which the stock turbo is like the size of a silver dollar

Heh, your friends need to spend a session with me so they can be properly schooled in the finer points of boost control and downshifting
Superchargers are awesome if one's tastes are satsified by moderate power. Turbocharger junkies thirst for so much more!

I shall get some pics up soon. This does indeed replace the entire intake manifold/supercharger/intercooler assembly. Ridding the car of that virtual boat anchor was a key objective in our system!

In my book, if you don't have at least 85% of peak boost by the time your foot reaches the floor at any rpm, thats lag I HATE waiting, what can I say, I'm impatient

You see that lever with the knob to your right? If you put your hand on that and move it to the appropriate position, you can have any power level you wish instantly, nigh regardless of turbocharger size (save for absolutely huge monsters).

Of course, for those of us who feel that smacks of too much effort, there's always automatic transmission cars. They can choose the correct gear for you when you mash the throttle

i say lower the boost a bit and drop a 50-75 shot on there for low end power if thats what you want.
