Help me take my belt off

I have tried to take my belt off but when I try to release the tension the pully doesn't budge, I use a 15mm wrence and put it on the tab n push but nothing. Has anyone else had this problem before?? I have a gm stg2 belt and a 2.8 pulley, I am unsure of why it won't move any help??

Should I just cut the belt?? When I put on the belt my friend is the one that put the belt on and I think he just rolled it on turning the crank pulley, I really don't want to buy another belt but if I have to then I'll cut it

15MM wrench push down and push towards the firewall... if it doesn't budge than your tensioner is toast

take your wrench and wedge it between the pulley/bracket and use it as a pry bar.

mine was a bish also. its on a arm like this / and you need to make it go like this \ so you put your wrench on it and push more back then down. now mine moved a hell of a lot past the motor mount if i remember correctly. also since mine was so tight it threw the wrench back at me 3 or 4 times so be careful.

this is absurd

to the OP if you can't figure out how to use the 15mm wrench, take the idler pully's dust shield off, its in the center and use a torx on a socket to rotate the pulley down....this is tricky and you'll have to be careful not to loosen the nut. This is a PITA to say the least but it works.

don't cut it, because you'll have to put a new one on anyways, defeating the purpose and trying to get the new one ON.

Please enlighten me, because I seem to have unbolted the sc and wiggled the belt off the pulley with no problem, putting it back on I put the belt over the pulley and pushed down on the sc and tightened it up. No leaks, and no damage. what's the problem?

How about a 15mm wrench over top of the tensioner. Push towards the motor. belt then comes right off the pulley.

Just sayin'.

Ya, but if you read, he can't get the tensioner off, so Im just offering an alternative. Loosening the tensioner would be obvious.......'just sayin'

vice grips, tighten them the hell down and leave them there throughout the install/removal.

i generally used two crowbars.
one to push where they are saying put the 15 mm wrench because when i got mine it was very lose and slipped. i put my crowbar on that spot and push it towards the supercharger and let it rest.
then with another crowbar i put the tip on the galley plug on the left side of the engine and put the bar on top of the tensioner itself (above belt) and push even more carefully.
it takes me 2 mins to do it now, with another person holding down the original one on top of the sc.
that might sound confusing, and weird to do it that way but on a 2.2 sc its really easy.
then i just started doing that for friends ss/scs.
