How Many Guys Are Seriously Going Turbo Conversion
Just wondering, because there are so may benifits, over supercharging.
140 more reliable hp over stock LSJ, Great fuel economy, Incredible torque rise, Less drag on engine turning S/C, Cooler sound, Anyone else want to add anything?
Plus if your going to run with the LNF it is a No Brainer.

I will be calling you very shortly.I am done racing the car this season and would love to upgrade to a turbo unit. It's a 2006 Atom2 with a Cobalt SS 2.0 S/C drivetrain.(stage 3 ) I would really like 300whp dependably.

If you only want 300whp, just upgrade the blower. Also, with Stage 3, shouldn't you be over 300whp with the spray?

Well, That would be wonderfull, if you feel the stock motor will take it.(at least for a season)
My plans are to build an engine/drivetrain capable of more in the future.
However,350 would be just fine for a start!

It was a pain in the ass. All my problems are not fixed yet but I am very happy that I went turbo. I worked very closely with Fred Simmons at SMG motoring. He helped me with a lot of the instillation tuning and some fabrication. Hopefully I will be up near that 350 (the real goal is 325+ @ 22 psi) when I get my wastegate issues sorted out.
As far as numbers I got 275whp at 5k at 17psi. After that It cutout lost boost power fell ect. I think the wastegate is the problem. Right now I keep it at 9 psi where I hit 230 whp with a very conservative tune.
A few times I've held boost higher than 20 up around 6k because I over boosted but it was one hell of a trip till the charge pipes blew off.
But, when I get the WG fixed I am going to go with a dif intake manifold and a remote water to air with the stock pump and system + cobra. I don't think that has been done yet. Then headwork in the not so distant future.

track times. power #'s are worthless if the power doesn't get to the ground. i think it's sad to see a car that weighs less than 3,000 pounds have over 400 hp and run mid-high 12's.
like i said though, i'm basing this off of what i've seen. i haven't kept up to date as far as what people are doing with their builds, so for all i know some people just can't drive, which isn't hard to believe.

M62 cars are still faster than almost every Turbo car converted LSJ on here. (Await's the Turbo people crying out their dyno numbers)
06Black is a perfect example, 480whp on his setup, has yet to see a track.
Some people like Dyno Queens, iono.

Unfortuneatly the track is closed for the season, so we will have to wait till Spring time to lay down some serious numbers with my Daughters car.
I am going to convert it over the next few weeks, plus a few extras I picked up from GMPP.
All it should take is a good set of slicks a Driver, and 325 hp to get in the 11s.
