What part of Vista are you in man? I'm packin up the Cobalt and driving from Chicago to move in with a buddy in Carlsbad sometime this winter. Just trying to get in contact with some other Cobalt owners in that area. I'm just not sure if I'll still be rolling with this one or the SS/TC!

Likewise. You floor it and the whine of the supercharger creates a lot of attention. People who don't bother looking at cars that go "pshhhhhhh" hear the scream and are like, "wtf is that?!?!"
Thats wtf im talking about ! I love the s/c sound although i must admit turbo did run through my mind ! But i did the math the loot i spent on my s/c to go get a turbo kit to deal with any little issues is not worth it i wana be able to drive around and cruise but at the same time 300 whp DD is still fun to drive and you can still drive gradma to church on sunday .

You can never be the fastest out here so you just gota make yourself happy

well i bought the kit from my brother. It doesn't get to full spool until like 4200rpm. When it does though, it hits like a hammer. Ya, the gt35r would make more power, but it would take that much longer to spool. I raced a stage 3 srt4 neon the other day from a 40 roll. Instantly he would pull a full car on me while my car would build boost. Once it did, the tires would light up and would get a car length ahead before i had to shift. the moral of the story is, turbo lag sucks and would only get worse the bigger you go.

What Kit did you buy and what brand, what size turbo is in the kit?

Turbo Lag is NOT a Problem, we make 5 psi as soon as you tip in the throttle, and it climbs extremely fast.

Boost for Boost a Supercharger will never make the torque or Hp a Turbo will, As I remember (because I am at home) at 16 PSI we were up Like 80 hp and 100 ft. lbs.

This is at higher boost but a good representation of the differences.

This one is from 06, GM Stage 2 SC VS Stage 1 turbo, Boost for Boost, We learned alot with the tuning since then to get the turbo to come on earlier.

it is a home made kit. Rebel manifold hat, rebel endplate, rebel charge pipe (modified to fit correctly), saab turbo manifold, gt30r, home made 3" downpipe. It makes 5 psi as low as 2000rpm but won't build full boost until about 4200.

06Black is a perfect example, 480whp on his setup, has yet to see a track.

Some people like Dyno Queens, iono.
hey I'm just getting the car dialed in. drives completely different now. and in no way is my car a dyno queen, just setup mostly for highway runs. I drive the **** out of it everytime I take it out. Hell I put almost 2k miles on it in the last 3 weeks.
I'm going back to the track next week to really beat on the car. Last times out I was babying the **** out of it. was working on getting the suspension right to launch the car the way I want it. Now it's ready to go. Remember guys, drivetrain parts are not cheap, and nor do I have the money to keep replacing ****, hell I'm still on the stock motor even with all the parts I have sitting in boxes since I dont have the money for the machine and balancing work I want to get done/

after so much time, money, and effort, along with tons and tons of little issues along the way, any week in which i suffer no issues / see no problems is a vary rewarding time for myself.

I built the car for the vary same reason in witch i use it.

for a hella fun DD, and a monster of a street racer.
amen brotha

and on a side note, for 350whp the gt3071 is great, did a car by me with that setup and **** it builds boost immediately, not like my lag monster lol,. but **** once I get into 2nd gear it's game over for whoever is next to me.

We Recently Tested that it is too big, go to a .64 and you will be much happier, I am a Garrett Dealer if that helps.

im hoping my turbo build will be on the dyno next week for a tune and some numbers. hoping for at least 350whp and 300-340wtq. im using a garrett t3/t04e 57 trim .63 a/r at 20 psi(mbc) with a tial 38mm wastegate and tial 50mm bov. after the engine build this winter im hoping for 450-500whp. and yes different turbo, more boost, and race gas.

Ya but when I build full boost, seeeeeeeeeeeeya. lol it won't break the tires loose until like 4000rpm. It breaks em loose in 2nd, 3rd, and chirps into 4th. I don't know what it makes at the wheels, but it throws me back in the seat way harder than my 2.7 equipped, full bolt on, supercharged version. Thats only at 15psi. I'm scared to turn it up. I have my rdline set at 7200rpm so I have a full 3000rpm of pure power.

I got the turbo as part of the kit. I paid less than a grand for all the parts. If you wanna give me a free .64a/r, I'll gladly try it out.

It was on the original Twin Charged Redline. So turbo lag was not taken into consideration.

I disappointedly raise my hand. Depending on what the tech guys at Turbonetics say, I'm probably gonna be getting either a 60-1, or a GT-K 550. Either way, it'll be a little over 400 whp on 91 shitane. Race gas will make a **** load of power, since I have 9.5:1 compression.
