How Much Oil

Alright how much oil does your car take in all the local part stores they're telling me 5 quarts. My car takes about 6.5 quarts If I just put in 5 I don't get any trace of oil on my dipstick. Is my car a freak or what?

All LSJ's take 6.5 Search next time, because it's been discussed sooo many times. Also, they give you an OWNERS MANUAL for a reason.

The issue is, the new 2.0 LNF takes only 5 quarts. They are probably looking it up wrong in their system.

Ok I figured the part stores neede to update there info or whatever. I didn't get an owner's manual with the car when I bought it. I already changed my oil a couple of times, I just chaged a couple of days ago and thought of it when I was by the computer and didn't even think of searching to see if it was discussed already.

to be far it is alittle over 6qt,make sure your checking in on level ground . as a rule of thumb with any car i always buy 1 extra qt , casue the filter , but the "Owners manual says it takes 6qt with the filter.

also search function sucks because when i search i get 50 threads with 10 pages of people telling people to use the search function. you would think the mods we make post like that disappear , its a pain to effectively find useful info on this site.

This is from GM service information , this is in dealerworld and all the techs use it for reference . Damn GM can't even decide how much oil an LSJ should take.

you would be better with 6.5 6.3 is correct, but its better to put 2 tenths of a quart more than 3 thenths less. IMO.
