I think dealers tell you they don't know because this is whats stated by GM:

Supercharger Description and Operation

The gears and ball bearings are lubricated by a synthetic oil. The oil reservoir is self-contained in the supercharger and does not rely on engine oil for lubrication. This oil reservoir is sealed for the life of the unit and is not serviceable.

how is supercharger oil any different that engine oil or tranny fluid, you change you motor oil and tranny fluid every so many miles so why wouldnt you do it with your supercharger oil. Thats dumb as hell on GMs part.

They also have sealed units on their automatic transmissions now. My question is, if they can create an oil that is good for the life of the car in those situations, why can't they make a better oil for our engines?

If swapping the Supercharger oil every so often increases the life and performance by only a few percent, I would do it. Plus, our warranties will likely all be expired by the time the "sealed unit" starts to fail because of oil breakdown...

It's not GM that decided that, it's Eaton. If it had an easily accessible way to change the oil, then damn right you would have to all the time because it wouldn't be sealed as well. The way they did it is the best way.

k. First they are wrong. 100ml is about 3.8oz and 6 2/3 oz is about 200ml. So that doesn't help. Not to mention, when i drained it, only about 80oz came out..??

Next, i called another dealership and they were really rude. So i called GM canada, and they are suppose to call me back tomorrow with a tech. So fingers crossed.

Anybody know...when they changed it?

Thanks
Nate

Ask Eaton, the manufacturer.

not sure about the m62... but on the m90 (grand prixs) it was 1.5 bottles of the GM supercharger oil... you can get it at any pontiac/chevy dealership.

UPDATE**

K. GM Canada contacted me and they weren't sure. They contacted another local dealership, and they have a bulletin that says that the s/c "can not be serviced". Both the manager there adn the gm canada guy were dead set that you can't drain the s/c oil. I explained to them that its the same as the m90 on the gtp or even my m45 for my cavy. In the end, the service manager said he'd contact somebody else and find out monday.

But that still doesn't help...lol. And 80oz DID not come out when i drained. ONly about 80ml 1-1.5oz came out.

Anbody actually measure how much s/c is in there?

Nate

Last I heard... if you go through GM... my dealer told me it is the whole bottle of S/C oil they sell! Don't know what size of bottle it is... but they said use the whole thing! Hope it helps!

its says 4 oz/118ml (but 4oz is way more then 100ml) . Doesn't help. How come theres not set oil capacity? Its kinda important. My m45 s/c was 3 oz (iirc).

When I measured mine I filled a old empty bottle of SC oil for my Procharger which holds 6 oz which is 187 ml. That will put you right @ if not a hair below the threads of the SC oil plug. Hope this helps.
