IC Pump Question

does the IC pump turn on as long as the engine is on and does not depend on the temperature and stuff?

the reason im asking is that, i took my car in b/c i dont see any flow at the filler neck and while i was showing that to the service rep at GM while the car is running, the pump suddenly turns on. he told me the pump will only turn on when its hot enough, is that true?

Thats not true. It runs all the time as long as the car is running. There is a 10 or 12 second delay for it to turn on when you start the car. The start up delay can be changed in the tune.

It should flow just the same. Although the faster you turn the engine, the more potential your alternator has for producing more voltage. That may have a tiny affect on the voltage going to the pump, but nothing noticeable.

What you’re experiencing is not much air passing through the TB when coasting, because the blade is almost shut. Also, keep in mind, if you are not moving fast enough, there is not much air being shoved across the heat exchanger fins, which is also needed to cool the coolant down in the heat exchanger system. This is why, at idle, the IAT2 temp starts to go up. When you start moving, your temps go down because you are pushing air through the HE and also sucking more air across the cooled parts in the IM.

That's because when you push on the gas you are letting more air enter your intake manifold thus cooling your intake charge (as long as youre out of boost).

I also noticed that the coolant disappears everytime I check, but the coolant level pops back up a little but when I unscrew the cap. Does anyone know what's causing that?

it is pressurizing and compressing the air in the system when all the air is out it should stop doing that

so does that mean i should add more coolant? coz when it is pressurized it looks like there is nothing in the system. but when i unscrew it sometimes it goes up to half of the fill neck :S

i'm quite sure that my pump is only working once in a while. is the pump part of the powertrain warranty?
