Well my daily redline (gray one) took a **** yesterday. Fuel pump died as I was pulling into the DMV to get my registration for the red one. Towed it back to the shop and going to drop the tank tonight and rip the dead Walbro 450 out and put an AEM 320 in that one too. Good thing I filled up FULL with fuel right before it died :/ ...it had been louder when priming though, so I should have known the end was near. It just HAD to be the one day we got snow lately.

So for now the red car is pulling DD duty. Drove it some last night to make sure she is solid and then drove it home, and to work today. Cool thing about speedo calibration...the F40 kit uses an external wheel on the intermediate shaft for the speed sensor, and the factory settings show about 15mph at 45-50mph, so I tried the 04 speedo settings since they used an external signal as well and that got me within 2mph. So that was pretty close.

A few pics I snapped on the way home last night, pulling winter DD duty!

you think it was teh E that killed your pump? also considering a 320 along with whatever else i could use to safely run E...

nice that you got yours running in time man! i bet the T-Lag is good for traction compared to the m62 car lol

After talking to some guys up here that had their 450's die after switching to E, I would say it didn't help matters at all. But the 320 is in it now and she runs again!

If you are staying M62 I wouldn't even let it cross my mind that you should put a pump in if you are an 06-07. 80's and stock pump will handle just about anything you can throw at it with an M62. Don't overcomplicate things if you don't have to.

And traction issues on M62 Only traction issues I have on that car are on the studded tires because metal doesnt hook to pavement. I never had issues on the TVS either. SC cars are so easy to pedal and hook.

I've seen the stock 06-07 pumps last longer on these cars than damn near any other aftermarket pump on any platform on E. If you had an 05 I'd say sure, but leave it. You already ripped the motor apart to do nothing besides extend the keyway for a pulley that has a lesser chance of breaking it than a factory one that have been revved to the moon for years without failure, and will now be putting the motor back together half new half old, so my main concern in the back of my head would be the longevity of the motor now that its been split. I know these arent subarus and arent "ruined after having the case halves split", but I would trust an untouched stock bottom end worlds more than I would one that has been pulled apart and put back together near the same as it was pulled apart. Don't take this as me yelling at you lol, just sharing an opinion and saying that people seem to think that these motors are just waiting for any chance to fling apart all of the sudden, when people have been beating the hell out of them for years with no issues. I drive a living testament to that and will continue to trust my stock bottom end. It owes me nothing, and has been through a ton, 6 years of abuse, high rpm, high boost, high speed long pulls, track and dyno runs etc, and it if popped right now I couldn't be mad, but the best thing I ever did was leave it as stock as possible.

If you didn't know I went EFF FOWDY then you didn't read! For reals though, the car is driving great. I parked it today because the gray one runs again, but I'll have it out this weekend. I love driving it with the 6-speed, so crisp. The 259 is very boost happy as well, and sounds freakin awesome! I have an idle video from last night ill upload shortly.

I am starting to wonder if the clutch is going to hold 600 though, and am having my doubts, but we will see! Worst case I will drop the trans quick in summer or whenever is slips and get the "stage 4 F40" clutchj ZZP sells, for like $1,100 :/ Time will tell!

Thank ya sir! Gotta get some miles on it and finish some things, but within a month to a month and a half I'll have it turned up pretty good.

Snow, yeah whats snow!!!

And yes I agree with you 100% on the bottom end deal. I won't be doing a lot of major mods until I build a new motor for the car.

People kept telling me I'm gonna bend and ruin the head if I keep revving to 75k all stock. Yeah a couple years later I'm still waiting for something to happen. I always keep good fresh oil on the motor and ot seems to reward me.
