Same thing happened to me with my CTI header. I doubt its your flex pipe. Grab a 13mm socket and 13mm open end wrench and go torque your header nuts down some more.

What happens is that even though they were probably torqued down all the way, the expansion caused by heating up then cooling down every time you drive your car causes the nuts to back out little by little.

This shouldn't happen since the nuts our cars come with are a prevailing torque design and are supposed to keep themselves locked in place due to having a slightly oblong (triangluar actually) shape. I think they should only be used once then swapped out for new ones.

Take a look at this pic, you'll see what I mean:

The dark ones are factory nuts, and the new looking ones are from the hardware store. Both prevailing torque designs, just with a different shape and obviously different amounts of wear.

If you continue to have to tighten them down to the point where it gets annoying, you may want to consider going to the hardware store and picking up some new nuts AND lock washers to keep them in place semi-permanently.

If you do decide to get new nuts, I would advise you also torque down your header studs with an E7 socket before installing them.

I actually found these on ebay, but Fastenal.com and some hardware stores should have them. I tried home depot but they didnt have nuts with the base like the ones in the pic. Sorry dont remember the torque spec. Will check in the morning.

I am dropping off the header to get it sanded flat.

That was either torqued in an incorrect order, or had terrible quality control...

It was mostly like A. The warping could have occurred over several months after installation.

I had a ticking noise from initial installation. But I have never ridden in a 4 banger with a header so I thought it was normal.

Now that I got the flange fixed and tightened down it does not make any more noise.
