Exclamation Installed Nates 2.9

So I finnaly put in my 2.9, inital impression was week, i did not see much difference at all, after a little while driving it i notice alot more low end torque, the car will spin 2nd accelerating from 30 to 70 est (the pavement is cold) at least i know theres no lack of power.

Question: I couldnt tighten the pulley bolts very much because the pulley would turn on me, they are nice and snug though, are they ok like that or do they need to be in very tight? Also did i need to put lock tight on these?

I had the same problem as you, I just got them as tight as I could and put just a little bit of loctite on there and have had no problems, been 5 or 6 months now.

The SC pulley bolt torque is 15 lbs/ft. That isn't much, so as long as you have them nice and snug you should be fine.

You shouldn't use Loctite... you will have a bitch of a time ever trying to get the bolts back out...

That is good... you hear some horror stories about guys who can't get their pulley bolts out because loctitie was used when putting the bolts in.

and maybe you were expecting too much? how much is a 2.9 going to give you over a stage 2 pully, MAYBE 10 hp? and i don't care what anyone says, it's not easy to feel the difference between 230 and 238 hp.

But TQ is felt more than peak HP,

And IMHO the main difference is how quick the boost is built.

Granted I have a 2.8, in the summers, but I can feel a huge difference when I switch back and forth in the low and mid range, the boost hits much quicker and builds smoothly til redline.

So even though peak HP numbers may not jump drastically, you have alot more 'usable' HP and torque for daily driving. I don't like to /rarely have the opportunity to go WOT for the majority of my driving

Yea thats my story. Dealer waay overtightened them and I have tried everything there is to get them off and even stripped one of the bolts. I have never seen something screwed in so tight before. I was told that if you use a torch to heat up the bolts that it would loosen up the locktite, so i held a propane torch there for like 2 minutes and tried it and the adapter that came with stage 2 to get the bolts on with broke in pieces.....so now i dont know what to do

I tried using a crow bar to stop the pulling rotating and then putting the bolt adapter on a impact off a big ass compressor and it still didnt come off.
