Installing the phenolic spacer and upcoming review...
Hey guys!
Good news for those looking for the ZZP phenolic spacer, I'm installing it now. I just came to my computer to write this thread and I'm gonna upload a video soon.
The main reason why I wrote the thread before finishing the installation is because I saw coolant at some places on the intake manifold gasket and around a hole on the intake manifold. I'm just wondering if this is normal...
Is this coolant that I see and is this normal? - YouTube
I'm gonna update the thread so stay tuned!
REVIEW:
============
Well, in overall, the installation was easy for me. I just used the help of someone when I placed the new gaskets and the phenolic spacer between the intake manifold and the engine.
My delta T (IAT2-IAT1) is now 15 degrees in the highway instead of 25 before. During a pull the IAT2 climb less faster than before and rarely pass 135F. Before they could easily pass 145F in the end of the third gear!
So I really appreciated the improvements, especially when you drive in the traffic, the intake manifold temperatures stay definitively cooler!
One of my friend told me that my third gear was more powerful than before. For sure, cooler intake charge definitely help!
So in overall, you can expect a drop of 10-15F in IAT2... during a pull or in the highway. Also, in the traffic, the IAT2 climbs noticeably less fast!
Very good mod and recommended!

Wow I used the STOCK bolts to bolt the intake manifold in!! I don't get it... ZZP give us longer bolt but they are not used... Maybe this is for another intake manifold than the LSJ one?
Another video will come soon for the showcase!
Udpate: Thats false... finally I had to use the ZZP bolts and I figured out that THEY FORGOT TO SEND ME THE WASHERS! Wow thanks ZZP!

I already did a review on this.....he's my thread https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...spacer-257405/
Hmmm so far so good wow! The IAT2s are really cooler! But now I have to go sleeping... its 5 am here lol! I just had A LOT of difficulties to put the belt on the supercharger pulley but its not because of the spacer... rather because I was bored and I wanted to test drive my car. And when you do mechanic you have to be patient, otherwise it seems like everything goes wrong and it's a never ending vicious circle
! This took me far more time than expected to finish the installation. I'll update my FIRST post with more details with some data after I wake up today!

Those spacers go in between the engine block and the lower intake manifold bracket. In the picture below you'll see two bolts where the spacers go. The third bolt is down by the intercooler pump. Without using those spacers that big bolt in the picture won't line up with the hole on the intake manifold

I only used the 7 bolts for the gasket and that's it. I don't know if this matters much?
You should definitely install the lower bolt. It's there for a reason. I did the same thing at first. I didn't install the spacers thinking they were only for the "intercooler pump bracket" like it says on zzp's website, I was pressed for time thinking oh I'll put them in later. The website should say they're the lower intake manifold bracket bolt which is what it is. well I go to put that bolt in and it wouldn't thread in. At that moment I thought o with the spacer now you don't use that bolt. And then a few days later I have to rip everything apart. Too bad zzp is too lazy to whip up some instructions.

Well... sorry guys to not have updated my thread and coming up with a review... it rained today and the car fell on its face again several time. I have the Injen CAI now and it seems like the car just doesn't like heavy humidity or rain with it. Or maybe I have another problem. But we'll see later tomorrow once the temperature will be more dry and sunny.
When I had my Rebel Autoworx CAI, never I had those issues. My friend with a yellow cobalt SS/SC had a lot of issues with the Injen intake and rain (not even need to pass over water, just a rainy day that's it) !!! He has now the AEM Dryflow filter on it and his car is fine since then.
It's hard to believe that even if I avoid water on the road, just the rain itself make the car jerk like crazy when you stomp on it just a little! The car even fall on its face after it has rained 3 hours before!!! Wow!

Last week I drove through rain that was so heavy I couldnt even see, and my car had no issues what so ever. I have an Injen intake w/ Amsoil dryflow filter by the way.

dropped my iat's 7-10 degrees when i installed mine and it only took me an 1hr and 30 min to take everything off and put it back together...granted i have taken my car apart more than 5 times...
I put mine on yesterday (along with the throttle body meth spacer) and ZZP forgot to give me one of the upper bolts so I just re-used one of the old ones. I haven't driven the car much but around the block because like a dumb ass I pinched one of the injector wires. I fixed it but don't like how it is so I'm waiting for my new harness to get here. I would hve been done in about an hour if it wasn't for trying to figure out why it wouldn't start.
