Intake or Not Warranty Issue

Ok guys I was so damn excited to find out stage 2 gm performance kit is actually coming out, my only problem is that I drive a GM.... Meaning I absolutely LOVE my car but I do not have the up most faith that with this performance mod that it will last.

Now my question is I called my dealership saying any NON GM part "i.e intake" which is found to cause a problem will not be warrantied, now here is my problem. I would LOVE to have intake with my gm performance mod yet I Do not want my engine to fail and have them blame it on the intake.

Please give me your guys advice think I should be worried about getting intake with the gm performance stage 2 ??

do a search but basically they can not void the whole warranty because of the intake. just the intake itself.

the chances of having your "engine fail" from an intake is minimal.

plus, what stops you from saving the stock airbox and putting it on if u need to go to the dealer for warranty work?

edit: to answer you question more substantially, you should not worry. if anything, the stage 2 kit will work better with a new CAI

Ok well considering the more and more im reading our stock CAI is the same as the aftermarket onces aside from the high flow filter. Im curious if anyone has a link to where I can purchase a High flow filter which will fit into our stock air box.

BAck to the warranty questions, black I am afraid of the engine failing and the dealership blaming the intake and we all know that sounds like something they might do.

GM is supposed to release their own CAI. I would see if that comes out and how much it is. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the warranty issue.

Thanks for the info its a shame I love that supercharger whine... and Im no fool I know a new cai will not hurt my engine... yet its all about the warranty. I am still not convinced that GM made this car to last so with this stage 2 mod I am unsure how long the car will last, I rather not give the dealership a chance to use one little mod I did as a scape goat and get out of honoring their warranty.

It's similar to a CAI setup but restricted because the Air Filter is housed inside the intake and the bottom is sealed and there is just a little port to let air come through. Your best bet would be to get a CAI or do the Air Box mod. If u do these things before the GM Stage upgrades u may or may not run into a CEL (Check Engine Light). I even get a CEL without any mods. Every once in a while. As a matter of fact I got one yesterday driving into work. I don't know if it was too cold outside. It was about 15 degress and I was crusing at 70 on the thruway

THanks for all your input guys but please realize guys I am not afraid of intake damaging my vehicle I am just afraid of stage 2 damaging my engine and gm using the intake as a scape goat.

I really want a car with a loud supercharger whine so I probably will do the intake + stage 2. Question though with the new ecu reflash will the computer be able to compensate for the larger amount of air being forced into the engine??

I'm assuming yes. The computer will have a better way of handling more power and make use of it

I talked to my dealer and he told me the k&n cai would not void my warranty, nor would any other cai.

im sure if they are informed PRIOR to a problem that you are running a CAI, they will not try to put you at fault for any failure.

my understanding is that the reflash will handle any air intake more efficiently.

a GM CAI??? do you have any link to this or more info Cobalt_Supercharged?
