issue with 06 motor/ecu in 05

have an 05 with an 06 powertrain and ecm in it. when connecting hp tuners, it says it cannot connect to the vcm.

are there any known issues with this? I had the ecm reflashed to the correct vin by the dealer, but now running into this issue. I wouldn't think there would be any connectivity problems between the two years

Make sure you have your application key handy, then delete the following file on your computer:

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\My Documents\HP Tuners\Settings\VCM Suite.cfg

Hope that works for you.

worked perfect... thanks

this is the first time I actually swapped the ecu in there with the powerpack, and I thought there was some type of configuration between 05 to 06 that was causing the issue

Hptuners has this issue a lot when switching from one year to another, or from one vehicle to the next. Copy your application key to a text pad and always have it just in case this happens again.

Not to thread jack, but if someone tuned me with a different car year tune, will this work too? Since I am having the same problem with connecting?

Most likely. I would just give it a shot since it doesn't really hurt anything.

that's sort of surprising because we've been using my brother's hptuners for a few years now and never had the first issue with it. i bought one for myself last week and as soon as we locked the vin in, it started trouble... figures
