so i was teaching my girlfriend to drive stick lol

and i noticed today that when i let out my clutch in first i hear a small knock everytime.

should i be worried?

anyone?

 

Could have damaged the throwout bearing. If the car is still under warrenty you should get it checked out. If not i would wait and see if it gets worse before having to pay to remove the trans and see if anything is damaged. Was it abused alot during the lesson ( i am guessing yes if she has never drivin a stick before ).

 

yes, severely abused, but it has 10 k miles and i have full warranty on it

small knock is okay... all motors knock.. now if your showing like >1 for knock.. then go have it looked at.

I hear a knock every once in awhile , i think its just taking up the lash in the drivetrain.

 

Is it a knock or a ping?One time i put some 87 octane in my car by accident and it would ping when i take off in first gear,and when going up hills.

 

ya its like the same knock i hear when its taking up lash in the drivetrain, but it happens everytime as im letting out the clutch in first gear, and never used to do it.
