Lsd?
Lsd?
This is probably a very stupid question. I recently bought an 06 ss/sc without the g85 package and the sicker says that it doesnt have a limited slip. The other day i did a burn out and both tires smoked. I was under the impression that if you dont have lsd the car only pulls off one wheel but both mine spun so im kinda confused. like i said, most likely a stupid question, but any input would be appreciated.
a limited slip will give a 50/50 torque split, an open diff wont always. however, if you do a burnout right without an lsd, you can still get both tires spinning.
the big thing is cornering and heavy throttle. without an lsd, the inside tire will just spin, with an lsd it wont.

in drag racing it can be a concern. if you launch and the car loads to one side, one tire will start spinning, usualy the passenger side. when cornering its more important with the power levels on the ss/sc, as a slight roll on the throttle comming out of a corner is enough to break a tire loose.
its more important to have an lsd for performance driving/racing in a fwd, as they are very prone to tire spin from even light throttle inputs.

I have the open diff right now and on my last trip to the track after take off it was so hard to keep it in a straight line because it keep pulling back and forth...
it also has a bad habit of doing it on the street if I punch it in 2nd gear...
