LSJ Oil Filter Problem

I changed my oil last week and I popped my hood today and noticed that it appears to be leaking around the cap. My question is there an rubber seal that comes with the filter? I don't remember my filter having one when I was putting it on. If I need to take it out and replace it with another filter with an seal, can I take the filter out without draining the oil? Since it's on top. Thanks

there is supposed to be a rubber o-ring that comes with every filter. At least the ones I ordered from CED came with one. The one time I bought a filter from Advance, it didn't come with one. I'm referring to the AC Delco filter, of course.

Yup^^ thats the one I bought... I bought them before and remember it having an O ring and this one didn't... You think that's the reason for the leak? I should be able to take out without draing oil you think?
Thanks

I won't say "yeah, that's definitely it" b/c you never know. But I'm 90% sure that if you don't have a rubber o-ring on there, then that's a big reason why you would have a leak. If you do have one that's never been replaced, then chances are it's failed.

Then there's always other reasons. But start with the simple **** first. Be sure to clean the oil stains off really well with brake cleaner so that it's easy to identify if the leak stopped.

not too tight, cause otherwise you'll break the housing. Stick to about the torque specs (about 12 ft/lbs).

considering he's the one being accused of going off-topic, and yet you're the one starting something with him and getting off-topic. Just saying is all. Maybe he's a douche, idk and idc. Just trying to help is all.
