LSJ Rev Limiter

What is the Rev Limiter set at in the '05 SC's? I hit it in 1st and 2nd today in my modded 05 SC and it did not kick in until 7500 in both gears. Couldn't hit it in 3rd for obvious reasons. Just wondering if that's normal because i thought i read it was supposed to be 6500.

Side Note/Question: Is it safe to hit the rev limiter when punching it from time to time, or is it safer to shift before it?

I wouldn't rev that high if it's a stock head.

I bounce on the rev limiter in 1st everytime I leave a stoplight. It's so everybody knows I'm a true street racer.

Fixed.

I'm pretty sure that's what you meant, seeing as I've gotten to know your personality.

My evil plot has been foiled!

Srs note, I hit the rev limiter occasionally, but only in 1st gear do I hit it on purpose.
I did it this afternoon for ***** and giggles...there were a bunch of parents on the street corner rallying for some prop on the ballot and they were yelling at people to honk...so when I got in my right turn lane and they were staring me down, I crawled around the corner, got the wheels straight and hit it....I left a cloud of carbon goodness and bewildered faces. My roommate got a kick out of it.

Yeah mine is set at 7100, would not recommend you rev past 7124 without some work done

My car has about the same mileage as Pam Anderson's vagina. Still going strong.

Curious, why 7124?

as far as i know you get valve float at 7250
but 7500 probably wont hurt anything if it happens once or twice i wouldnt make a habit of it tho

Only valve issue I've heard of is the springs like to go buh bye past 7600.

7124 is pretty funny, not that it's wrong, but so precise. Does the world implode at 7125?

mine is at 7200 and hit it all the time, no problems. any higher you would need upgraded valve springs.

I do not suggest revving it any higher than 7000 RPM unless you get the Neutral Balance Shafts and high speed valvesprings.

Stock should be 6500 RPM, Stage 1/2 is 7000 and Stage 3 is adjustable.

Ive heard the stock valve springs can only handle 7200 rpm.
After that the spring can't close the valve fast enough to keep it
rideing along the cam lobes.

And how do you tell 7124 from 7125 on your gauge? Even the interceptors
fluxuate arround a few rpm up and down.

7200 proven safely by me. I hit it often in 1st and 2nd. but, I would say 7150 is a good spot, but that is just me.

I think the best way is to select an RPM so that when you shift into your next gear it puts your RPMs down to just before your torque curve. Or so that when you shift into the next gear, its at a higher sport of torque.

Anything "above" 7250 rpm you run the risk of valve float.
