MAF Screwed up
MAF Screwed up
Ok, so a while ago i put a CAI on my car. Ever since then my MAF Sensor has been fucked up... What i think happened, is either, the air filter that came with the intake was too oiled up and some got on/in the MAF sensor to cause it to **** up; or maybe the MAF Sensor was scratched or something when it was taken out or put back in.
I think it's the MAF because when i put the intake on i threw a CEL... i thought it was a lean code... it was a rich code... that doesn't make sense. when my buddy scanned it with hp tuners, it was running ungodly rich and no matter what he did to try to lean it out, it was still running pig rich. I also get a surge at idle even though my idle was raised to 950 rpms. it just goes from 600rpms up to 1400rpms and back down, over and over again...
Obviously if the sensor is scratched or damaged, then i'll have to replace it, but if it's just dirty, a simple cleaning would do the trick...
My question is, how would you go about cleaning the MAF Sensor? I know they sell MAF Sensor cleaner, etc. but i'm not 100% sure on what to do. Any help?

pull it out. spray it with 5-6 light shots of maf cleaner/electrical cleaner, and your done.
I also use some q-tips and very very lightly wipe it to lift any oil/dirt off, and make sure that the cleaner doesnt just pool any dirt / residue and redry on it.
I would strongly suggest unplugging your battery while doing it.
this may also help your computer "relearn" your intake with a clean maf.
I picked up some maf sensor cleaner the other day actually.
even claims 6-8hp gain for a clean maf
