More test results for you guys. Want more HP?

Well for the past couple of trips to the track i have been testing a couple of things on my Cobalt so i thought i would share them with you and change the mood of post

#1) I have switched to an LT1 MAFF and a 3.5"id air inlet hose and a 9" K&N. Results were promising, i picked up 2mph in the 1/8th and 1.5 in the 1/4. Unfortunately, the added power has made me REDUCE the boost in 1st gear via HPTuners to allow me to hook up, somewhat! This had not allowed an improvement in ET's but with traction on a prepped track or thru better tires, 12.5 or 12.6 is a reality. The car feels incredible from any speed! SC whine is deafning! Consistent 109 trap now which is nice. Oh yea, i have 90.00 in the intake set-up!

#2) I added a second stock heat exchanger mounted in front of the ac condensor and hooked up in series with the orginal unit. I saw a 15-20 degree drop in IAT2 which allows me to run more timing on my pump gas tune which is nice on the street. I feel that adding a resvoir and bigger pump, a 40-50 degree drop could be realized.

That's it for now, i won't be able to race for awhile as i need new rims and tires and can't afford them but if i come accross any more good HP mod's i'll pass them on to you.

Rob

Intense has the duct and you need 3'. You also need a 3" to 3.5" adapter. I did not use any of the stock box. It was all totally removed to make space for the K&N.

Ive already got my intake mocked up , I just need to get down there to indy to have ya do the tuning needed to except the new maf . I knew Id have a use again someday for my old spare LT1 maf

Were you able to find a used heat exchanger ? Ive tried looking with no luck as of yet . Its pretty pricey thru the dealer , even with my discount

Couple of choices, 280.00 for a stock one (easier to install) 80-100 for a used stock cobra unit or 370.00 for a new aftermarket cobra unit. The later might be a little better but install would be a little harder.

Rob, any issues with the Spec Stage 3+ clutch in relation to what people have found out about our master/slave cylinders, etc.?
