My LSJ head is ruined :(
Sounds like the timing jumped. Not the first time I have heard this happening after someone replaced their tensioner with the new version. I don't give a **** what anyone says, to do it the right way the cam gears need to be secured in place when doing this
Get the Kent Moore tool that holds the cam sprockets in place, and be sure that the intake cam gear diamond is lined up at at 12 o'clock

For the love of god..
The tensioner is supposed to be loose like that when you put it in and then once you start the car it will be exactly like explained.
It has a spring inside to help with the tension so the reason its hard and cannot move is because its working.
Now there is no special way to screw it in.....its a large bolt...righty tighty lefty loosey. Its that simple.
Torque to 55ft/lb and call it a day.
The issue you have is the broken lash adjuster. Fix that first. Its very basic. Remove the old one and put the new one in. As far as I know you just drop it in.
If it still isn't running right then look into the head but first fix the lash adjuster. It has nothing to do with how you replaced the timing tensioner but was most likely a coincidence. Or was the noise initially.
After you fix the lash adjuster and while the valve cover is off and the spark plugs are out id think about rotating the motor a few times just in the off chance there was a skipped timing chain you can see if there is interference.

So it just moved up and down like that then after removing everything such as valve cover, fuel rail, etc. u just screwed it in like that? Didn't have to line anything up or hit on it or anything? Just stuck it in? Lol I'm trying to wrap my head around how I possibly screwed up.
I did everything right I guess. What hurt me was prolly when I removed the old one, the zip tie I had connecting the two gears together snapped and the gears must have jumped timing because it was a loud popping sound. -_-
Your not reading are you.....
The issue is most likely your broken lash adjuster....
Forget about the timing until you fix the lash adjuster.
Then turn the motor over by hand and if it turns over freely you do not have a issue starting the motor.

Lol dude there was not broken lash adjuster when I first pulled the valve cover off to install new tensioner. Car was running awesome(except for rattling chain noise) I didn't see it broke until I started car and got horrible noise after installing the new one. Pulled valve cover back off and there it was just laying.
