Need Opinions guys!

Hey guys I just need a few opinions because I've heard to many various thing's. As most of you know I had a bad dyno day about a month ago, (lets put that in the past) lmao, but I have the opportunity to buy 60's and a 2.5 inch dp. My question is do you think the 60's are worth it on my 2.9, I do not plan on pulleying down but you never know. Im getting tuned by Gremlin and Jeremy when they come down on the 16th. Do you think I should get the 60's or just stick with the 42's?

I dont think the 60s will make much difference 42s should support 2.9 pulley with a good tune but u need cooling mods i dont know what ur running.

60s should give you a chance at a higher redline, plus nice if you ever decide to drop down more.

If it's a good enough deal, I say go for it.

^ exactly, if it's a pretty good deal, go for it. Plus the stock dp is a 2.5, you won't gain anything from buying another one. Most people go with a 3" with the 2.5 exit

I have 3" dp but there are gains from going from stock 2.5 to a 2.5 aftermarket dp, aftermarket companys use highflow cats so u will see a gain.

Small gains I suppose, from the cat and no restriction where the o2 bung is, but 3" would be a better choice

The stock dp isn't a full 2.5. It necks down to almost 2 around the Inlet flange. Then comes back up.

Reason people get the 2.5 aftermarket is cause its a full 2.5, thus better flow.

Also stock downpipe cat is already a high flow cat.

With the stock pulley, your OEM Injectors are pretty much maxed... I'd say get the 60's. That's what i'm running and i have a 2.7"

I agree that a 3" dp connected to a 2.5 catback is the best setup for an m62, having a full 3" has been shown to cause a lil bit of loss in power tho, its hard to explain but it has to due with how exhaust flows, imagine a water hose turned on and just free flowing, now imagine putting ur finger slight over the mouth of the hose it causes the water to flow out faster and harder. This is the idea of having just the right amount of flow for ur power level, to big or small causes a loss of power

Yeah i am just gonna get tuned with my 42's. I rarely shift above 6200rpms so I think i should be good? But yeah ill pass on the dp too, I had no clue that the 2.5dp wouldnt bring me much gains. And yes vander i am running a s3 h/e for cooling.

Im happy with the 2.9 this is gonna be my car for atleast the next 5 years so I just want to have a slightly built car ya know, god forbid anything happens to the car i dont have a second . And vander i always shift early lol idk why it's always been a habit of mine to shift before redline, ive done that with all my car's (probably why i cant win any races) lmao

while were on opinions for setups id like a second opinion or third, on where i should go next? like this post creator i do look to keep this car for a while but in about 2 yrs i do look to get something else BUT in the meantime i have a 2006 ss/sc, pullied down from a 2.85 to a 2.8, went from 42s to 60s (i was maxing the 42s at the end of 3rd gear) s3 h/e, zzp 3 inch exhaust, injen cai, hurst short shifter. gonna get an ingalls TD from my tuner and im soon to get tuned for meth/water injection when my controller comes in, no i dont want to switch to a TVS (....well.... i do but dont have the $ for it lol) or go turbo, i love my ss/sc so what would be a next step for me? not looking to go hardcore or go toe to toe with a GTO but something that will make me relevant around our way, havent dynoed it yet, ill do that after i get the meth flowing and tuned for it
