so the laminova tube wouldn't leak air or anything, if anything it would help us out if we ever went forced induction? We'd just need an in-tact core or a dummy in place correct?

No, i've never heard of a properly installed tube ever leaking.
I wouldn't suggest this be used on an NA vehicle, even for temporary use, as it's not designed to be used as such, and creates a very large restriction on the system.
If you went FI, you would probably install it or the OEM manifold at the same time as the SC (as they are only usable as a package).

Not yet.
The ported manifold is still at my buddies place where we welded it and flow tested it.
I'll have to get it back and take some pics before posting the how-to.

I am very interested in this - Bravo for taking this on, Omega.

You will have another one sold if this gets off the ground!!

longer runners would be amusing for tire smoking fun

I'm aiming for 6-7"

The problem....?
GM made the front of this engine such a cluster-*** that I'm having fun trying to route some decent runners in there....

On the bright side - runners of ANY length would be a frickin improvement!

lol. i was actually being sarcastic. i would honestly chop 2-2.5 inches off the total runner length to help out low end traction issues

Yup...
Current runner length?
About 1/2"
(if you want to call them runners...)

... that's what the pedal is for...

nope, thats what control of the bypass valve is for

I would call it/them a "Boost Toilet" - actually, my toilet has better flow dynamics than the stock IM.

Nice to see this continuing..

With the SC we do not really need very long runners to improve low end torque. But like you said. 5-7" runnerlenght would be nice and will bring for sure some extra Hp's.

I'm not sure how your design will look like, but make sure you have some volume capacity between the SC and the (laminova) intercooler. The sc is a fixed displacement pump and makes internally no boost pressure. The pressure is only a result of the air forced into a restriction...
You don't want huge fluctuating pressure waves (bad for efficiency), so some volume after the SC is needed to equalize this.

Did you include the SC flow direction in your flow simulations? I heard somewhere that the outlet airflow from our Sc is angled (can imagine this) and therefore not all cilinders get even air distribution... Just a thought.

Keep us informed!
(Pics ?)

Yeah, I'm alotting for a minumum of a 650cc plenum before the cores, and about a 850cc after the cores. The main reason for that was to try to correct the second issue your brought up, the flow direction. The SC tends to push the air to the passenger side of the engine. There really isn't any way to even that out, besides a healthy plenum.

Edit:
Numbers changed to correct ones... sorry, I hadn't had my coffee yet.

250cc volume before the cooler cores seems a bit low to me, but if you could make it flow good... The stock LSJ flowpath is a real nightmare.

(Last night I was reading some stuff about the Lotus GT3 racecar. This has the supercharged Toyota 1,8 engine from the pics in the other tread, but with a watercooled chargecooler. And it now features 261KW!! (Ok, with a lot of revs. 8000 or so) But if I'm not mistaken still with the same M62 supercharger... We just need some decent airflow!! )

Holy jezzus... I must be going crazy this morning... I have no clue where I came up with 250 and 350....
Must be the lack of coffee....

I want back and looked... it's ~40ci (650cc) and ~55ci (850cc).... and that's assuming I keep an even tapered funnel from the SC outlet to the cores.

--------------------------------------------------
Well, I'm officially down to only 2 designs.

While the one complex one would flow about 10% better than the other 2 designs, and would allow for a nice clean runner inside, it has one major draw back.... the drivers side runner would get in the way of the bypass valve tube.

Ok... question time again;

Would anyone like a flat milled spot across the front of the intake?
This would be for such things as N2O spray or W/M spray.

Also, if people would like this... do you spray before the cores, or after?

Well... thanks to Witt, it has come to my attention that the stock TMAP position will interfere with the TVS blower. So... it will probably be moved to another common position... possibly the bottom of the unit.
