Well I finally got around to installing my new NGK Iridum BKR7EIX spark plugs today. What a difference they made. They smoothed out my take offs, shifts and even my idle. I am so glad that I changed them. Once the Stage 2 was installed the car was not the same. More power, but rougher take off’s, rougher shifts and rougher idle. Now it’s like a whole new car. I have them gapped at .030 and torque at 18 foot pounds.

The plugs that I removed were NGK-R, part number PFR6T/10G and they were gapped at .037.

 

There ya go. Much better now hah? Almost better than sex......wait......no it isn't. Congrats.

 

What were the 7's gapped at out of the box? I'm about to put in some of the BKR7E's in the 06' but I think I'll be gapping them at the recommended stock gap of .040" since I'm running the stock pulley for now. The temperature is 100 everyday here in Texas and you can't tune for maximum performance on these cars without going a step colder on the plugs

 

I went with the same plugs as you - CEL never came back and it's been well over 6 weeks!!

You do know that your not supposed to gap the iridum plugs

 

You are absolutely correct on that one Nuclear. They were gapped at .030 out of the box. This is my senond set. If you try to gap them you will probably break the electro rod. It is very fine. I have been out driving the car in the last couple of hours and it runs great. I am very happy with them. I have been told by the speed shop wear I picked them up at not to gap them. I was also told that they should be gapped around .020 - .025 for a supercharged engine.

 

I just changed my BRK7E's to .032. Feels a bit stronger. They were .037.

 

see my stock plugs were gapped at .036 and when i changed to .040 my car seemed to run better....its confusing

 

the MGK plugs are recommended to be gapped at .40, but on a stock car could you gapp them at like .30 and be ok?

 

It depends on what type you put in. NGK recommends you gap the BKR7EIX at .035 when you increase your boost. These plugs are one step colder then the stock plugs. Right now I’m pretty happy with the performance change they made for me.

 

I got mine ordered friday, and picked them up on saturday. With work both days and today, I haven't been able to put them in, but I will once I wake up.
