Official catch can/crank case vent system thread

What's everyone using for a vent system? I know there are some good custom ones out there and I really don't know much about them.
Also what's everyone using for a catch can? I know moroso makes a good one. Can we get some pictures and explinations of some good vent systems?

Metco oil cap fitting with a -10an line.
-8an line coming off the valvecover and factory nipple. i need to get that gutted though and welded so i can run a -10 back there as well.

i have them running down below the passenger headlight, so you'll need a different location if you're an m62 or tvs car, to a vented Allstar catch can. it could be better but it works.

The hose from the oil cap, where would that go on a TVS car? And where does the hose from the back f the valve cover go?

they both go to the can. what i mean when i say it won't work on a tvs/m62 car is just the location of the can. cause the intake will be down there. the setup itself will work.

Mrb I was hoping you'd stop by. I am interested in a picture I saw somewhere I think it was yours. It was a valve cover with extra bungs welded on it? Can you elaborate on that?

its a -10 bung welded over the crank case vent on the valve cover ran over to a moroso air/oil sep with 1/2 inlet/outlet and a -10 line over to the air intake its nothing elaborate i also pluged the pvc port in the head to keep oil vapor out of the intake manifold as for the hose i used push lock hose and fittings braided is way overkill and way to expensive

How come you don't have a hose coming from the oil cap? Sorry for the dumb questions

a single line is generally alright for a blower setup.


mr b so did you just weld shut the factory pcv, and then just drill a hole and weld on the new bung?

i tapped the hole in the head and loctited a plug in it and on the valve cover i welded the factory hole shut and welded 2 -10 bungs on the back iam only using 1 as that is all that is needed even in a big snail setup 1 line is sufficant if it is big enough i believe gm used 1
-12 from the back of the valve cover

this is what we did with the race cars for Time Attack and Grand Am and had zero issues. I run bone stock PCV and have zero issues without a catch can@320 whp on the track or street.

If you run very loose piston to wall clearances and drag race and run very high power, you may want to do more.
The LSJ has no fresh air inlet to the crankcase PCV so NOX levels if the LSJ is turbo'd will be high. You may not care.

If the car is pushing out the dipstick or having issues with oil control, it could be detonation is the problem.

The solutions for LSJ are two fold: First one is just what I showed, nothing fancy, but do not return the line from the catch can to the inlet tube. block that off.
The second solution I have in mind, is to go directly to a vacuum pump and do a more elaborate system. If at 375 whp or more u have oil control issues, that is the best route in my opinion. The suggestion that the center of the rocker cover is vented is not a bad idea, but remmeber that port goes all the way down to the base of the engine and you may want to consider a real oil seperator (which has a check valve and costs less than a Moroso shiny one, as nice as it is) and re think your set up. Mr.Belevedere has one that works..

The vent has an orifice, and also a chamber behind it. YOu just defeated that , Stealthy and the chain just swirls that oil right out your vent. The dash 10 has a nice big hole, gets all that oil out of the engine and into the catch tank /yessir/ works jim dandy/.

but Im running the stock setup and haven't had and oil in my intake since i rebuilt my engine...Im wondering if its the exteamly close ring gap i have...hmm

I have a -12 on my valve cover and it wont fit on the back side, that is why it is on top.
