Hey guys, I just recently found out Im going to be getting a lot more money than I thought. So I have decided I want to go with the red pill(LSJ-T). I was just wondering what kind of turbo would be good to get me to the 400hp mark on a very conservative tune and low boost until I can upgrade the internals and push past the 500hp mark. Thanks

not on low boost.
see above
in order for a 256 to hit 400s you're looking st 25-26psi and methanol injection or an E blend. hardly low boost lol

What type of fuel system you running and catch can? I see that little thing where the oil cap goes where you get that?

Metco LS1/LS2/LT1 AN Valve Cover Adapter
fuel system is just 80s, pump rewire, brfps, and i forget what pump. but its just a single

right but he said he wants low 400s
and then wants to turn it up once he upgrades the internals and make mid 500s. a 256 is not going to make 400 on a conservative tune and low boost. it'll need at least 25-26psi. which doesn't leave much room to make more power once he upgrades the internals, which i would guess jsut means rods and pistons. i for one would not run 35psi to try and hit 500s on stock sleeves. the 259 will hit 415-420 on 20psi. and till carry you to 600 later on. making more power with less boost is the way to go if you're on stock sleeves. thats why lnf guys are busting their engines and most lsj's aren't. we don't have those 30-31psi boost spikes on stock sleeves. 259-20psi will make low 400s. turn it up and it'll hit the 500 mark a lot safer than a 256 will on stock sleeves.
on a very conservative tune and low boost

Thanks exsoccer I appreciate the great info here. You are right when I wanna hit 400 on low boost. I am mechanically inclined n understand engines well, hence why I am becoming a mechanical engineer. Less boost=less stress. So even porting the head thru and thru would help the engine internals survive longer correct?

i guess you could look at it that way yes. i mean you can only por tso much. but more air=more power. the better it flows=less boost. i would just look at some compressor maps and see what turbo flows what and when.
i'm just ready to move back up to a 62mm lol

well at any rate anyone looking to turbo dont go 20g unless you are happy around 350-450 hp. It takes a good bit of boosting to do it trust me I am going through the motions of a major build right now. My entire engine and cradle are sitting in pieces in my garage and I am having my block sleeved.
Go zzp, go with an extended tip borgwarner and as exsoccer said even a 259 would be beast.

to be honest, i'm not sure if you completely understand what it would take to get anything more than 400+ hp to hook up on the street. You see what mark (exsoccer) has to do. He's the only one in this thread with more than that. 400-450hp is a great range for a fwd car, especially if you want to daily it. So in essence, it's still an ideal turbo.
