Just my luck....the turbo I bought is burning oil like crazy Didn't even get to tune it or run it. 1st and 2nd pull smoke smoke smoke smoke....now I have to limp around until the weekend is over and I can call the guys that sold me the turbo to see what they can do. I'm out the labor to fix this if they do replace the turbo. You can visibly see the oil seeping through the middle of the turbo.
sucks I have to worry about this all weekend and the fact I dont have a 2nd vehicle to drive around.

What return system are you running? What crank case venting are you running?

What size wastegate are you guys running? I have a 38mm already but I'm doing a big build and not sure if I would need a 44mm. Or does it not matter, I'll be boosting around 30 pounds

Slickss24, sounds like you def have a boost leak somewhere and it may be getting larger with every time you push it, check all of your connections.

I Honestly don't think just a split vacuum line would blow up your turbo man. I would do a boost leak check on your pipes starting from the intake if you can. Reason i'm saying that is I had a huge hole in my first coupler for probably a year before my 30r came apart.

Gt35r to Gt42r
PTE 5557e to 6262
FP Red or Black
your definition of "best" would be what determines that. I love my turbo because it is large enough that I can stay out of boost during most cruising and stuff which keeps my MPGs up. A small turbo will work more, put you in boost more often, but spins up faster. There are lots of different preferences that determine what is "best" for you.

450-500, are you building the motor first? Good turbos for that kinda HP range would be: S256et or s259et
