Are you sure its the turbo? Are you sure its not a crank case vent issue or drainage backup?

What return system are you running? What crank case venting are you running?

What size wastegate are you guys running? I have a 38mm already but I'm doing a big build and not sure if I would need a 44mm. Or does it not matter, I'll be boosting around 30 pounds

44 would be good if you know you'll be running 30psi. im running a precision 46mm with a 9lb spring.

Im running a 38mm @25psi and not seeing any issues. I would say 38-40 would be good.

Slickss24, sounds like you def have a boost leak somewhere and it may be getting larger with every time you push it, check all of your connections.

Couldn't find it till yesterday when I was taking it all apart and saw the line to the bottom nipple on the waste gate was cracked in half. It sucks I didn't catch it earlier but I really wanted to step up a size on my turbo anyways.

Its good you are upgrading from the 20g, there are a ton of recommendation in this thread. 252 or 256et.

Well it's always good to optimize the tune. Fix that turbo manifold leak you have while your at it. I hit 19psi at 3700rpm in third gear

Yea I got new gaskets for everything so I'm taking it all off when I get the turbo and replacing them.

I Honestly don't think just a split vacuum line would blow up your turbo man. I would do a boost leak check on your pipes starting from the intake if you can. Reason i'm saying that is I had a huge hole in my first coupler for probably a year before my 30r came apart.

450-500, are you building the motor first? Good turbos for that kinda HP range would be: S256et or s259et
Gt35r to Gt42r
PTE 5557e to 6262
FP Red or Black

your definition of "best" would be what determines that. I love my turbo because it is large enough that I can stay out of boost during most cruising and stuff which keeps my MPGs up. A small turbo will work more, put you in boost more often, but spins up faster. There are lots of different preferences that determine what is "best" for you.

One of the first things BYT told me to do was replace the crappy vac lines zzp gives you. Going to be replacing them this weekend so something like this doesn't happen.

Alright, so what kind of internals would I need to get 500 out of aLSJ. I also want to know is it best to just get a kit or build it piece by piece?
