Had a good time giving stev a hand.
Have my car full of parts to clean up like new again. Lots todo should have his car back up in no time.
With way more power. Cant wait to see it on the road again. Ill let stev share the details of this build.
One thing learned from this is that there was enough cylinder pressure weather hydraulic or not the sleeve survived perfectly intact. At least until the rod ripped it apart

With Mr Belvedere sleeve and a few modifications I'm going to be doing to the block I do not see how this block could not be compared to the zzps at a fraction of the cost

When I hit 2nd, afr was normal; once I grabbed 3rd it pegged 10.0 and shut off.
car began vibrating; I pulled in at the e85 station I was only a mile away from. Sounded like either a lifter or chain noise at the time, I wasn't sure.
Strangely the car idled and drove normal out of boost; holding a steady 14.7-15.2 afr, on flat, down hill and uphill freeway driving @ 65mph.
Since it ran normally and I was still 50 miles from home, I tried driving it home. Drove fine, minus the vibes. With 15 miles remaining before I got home, the rod at this point snapped and destroyed the entire engine, while firing off an epic black cloud and flame out the back exhaust pipe
Three probable causes for hydraulic failure:
1) head gasket - it looks completely normal, zero signs of leakage at cylinder 3.
2) methanol check valve - pressure tested it and vacuum tested it; works as it should.
3) injector sticking open - still need to check it

next time we're gonna have fun in the rental white balt :P
canyons, PCH...
epic way to completely destroy an short block.
was funny...
I was undoing the rod end caps, and trevor was poking at me with a long 1/2" extension through one of the windows the rod made. Took me to a sec to realize wtf
