Oil filter Issue

I searched for oil filter, too many hits to decipher.

Here is what the filter looked like that I removed from my 06 SS/SC.

This is a Napa Gold (Wix) filter.

I'm wondering if I installed it wrong.

I drop the filter in the block, then put the cap on. I'm wondering if the filter needs to be fit into the cap first, then screwed into the block. The factory manual doesn't say a thing.

This doesn't look like it filtered too well in my opinion.

Comments?

Ron

install the filter into the cap,it will clip in and stay together, then put it in the motor, i would use the napa filter or i would order them from createegingedepot.com, i would steer away from fram they are garbage and are known to break and fall apart, would you want that in your motor......but odds are your filter looks like it does from you dropped it in the motor then you put the cap on...

Well, I guess I'm a meathead! I'll get a new filter and install it correctly. (I just changed the oil)
Hope is was still filtering!
Thanks

i switched to a bosch filter once, and when i took it out it looked just like yours. stick with the ac delco filter. they are the best for our cars.

I happen to like the Mobil 1 filters they make, you may want to look into those.

Had the same problem with the napa filters did it twice so I switched back to the oem filter from the dealer and never seen that issue again.
I also mentioned it to the napa dealer but he didnt care.

Also make sure you put a little oil on the O-ring on the bottom of the filter and make sure its there on the old one when you take it out.
