p-0171 and 1101 lean codes??

i went to get my CEL checked out and these 2 codes came up,
the P-0171 was a too lean code, the guy told me it could be too much air coming in,
cracked/leaking intake manifold, or just a messed up or dirty maf sensor.
and the 1101 i dont remember too much but it has something to do with
the lean code, and it said something like the computer cant read exactly what is
making the system run lean. its kinda frustrating.
i got the car about a month ago with some retarted intake, i put a stock intake
with stock filter, and just took the cap of the filter off to get a little more air.
its driving me crazy. i tried reseting the car twice and i still get the codes.
also... not sure if this has anything to do but.... i have a minor gas leak, i think the top of
the tank has a little crack or something and the hose that goes to the begining of the filter
is a little loose, someone cut part of the hose off and now it doesnt stay properly.
any help will be more than appreciated!

The gas leak is part of a recall: You should be able to get that fixed for free if your car is registered in the correct state.

The Lean, check for leaks in your vacume system too. Since you changed your intake from one style to another, its probably just the intake that you changed is causeing the MAF to read wrong. Either put the old intake back on, or get it retuned and you should be good to go.

i dont got any type of warranty on my car. do you know what type of recall it was or what was the problem so i can get it fixed on my own?
and the problem with the other intake is that it was super rigged, it was made with autozone plastic tubing and the smallest/crappiest filter ive ever seen.
you think with a tune ill be good?

Recalls dont require you to have any warranty at all. A tune should help with the lean issue if there is nothing physically wrong.

FYI, if the top of the tank is cracked at the fill neck then there is no recall on that. Thats around a $1000 repair at the dealer.

I had that lean code a few times on my LSJ. first time was cause I took it through a car wash, and the MAF got wet...the other times were cause of my ZZP intake. just cleared it and went on.

When I took mine in for the gas thing, they called it a "Special Policy" since they only want you to bring your car if you have the problem. I also had to take in the policy letter about it that they mailed to me.

If you dont have the letter you might have to pay the $1000
