Performance Chip

I just got done looking at ebay auctions...there is a "performance chip module" that supposely increases horsepower by 20. If anybody could reply with some useful information on this item it'd be greatly appreciated.

those are not chips. those are resistors that trick your computers iat into thinking the air coming in is colder than it actually is.

start messing with those things on a supercharged car and your engine may go boom

Warmer actually, not colder. This will cause the computer to lean up the mixture slightly. Helps with power as all factory PCMs are programed to be slightly rich for safety sake.

Generally not the greatest idea to cripple the computers view of the engine, especially one so important as the intake air temp.

actually it's colder. it advances the timing, and dumps more fuel into the engine

Either way, eBay chip mods are usually a bad idea.
