phantom knock
ah yes, that great age old mysterious knock. i found some answers i was looking for yesterday when i was logging.
ttr solid mount. engine mount actually.
drove of a rough bridge down by my work. every single bump on that bridge fired the knock sensor off.
moving 25 mph up this bridge, watching the kr dance around {it is rough bridge btw, so 25 mph is about the max}
2 degree's. 4 degree's. 10 degree's. hmmmmmmmmm. this might explain why i random get knock for no reason when i know good and well it shouldn't be.
moral of the story? not all knock is bad knock. im not in the mood to change out the mounts and test this theory again.

i can confirm it partially.
an ingalls is lots easier to take out/install, and i can say with certainty, that it gives phantom knock readings.
so im sure when my TTR mount arrives ill experience the same as what your describing too.

I get it between shifts sometimes if I shift a certain way.... I don't mind it so much between shifts though... little easier on the clutch and transmission to pull some timing there. Does give some bucking though sometimes.
Hate to resurrect an old thread, but I installed a centerforce dfx clutch, ssc springs, a cxracing h/e, and a ttr rear sway bar, and now I am getting a great deal of what appears to be phantom knock. It will speckle the table in various cells, more depending on how long I am logging for, and will show an average in cells some with 0-2 degrees, and others with 5-25. The cells that give me the high averages show a count of 1 sometimes maybe 2. The low averages sometimes hit more.
I am occasionally getting a p0300 (engine misfire) and it will come up randomly, sometimes not at all. I have had it not come up at all driving all over town, and I have had it come on having the car just idling while I was bleeding air out of the h/e.
I have also noticed what appears to be fairly high IAT2s at times, but that could be normal with as hot as it has been here lately.
Any ideas?
