You can't just do that.

It sounds like he bought wheel centric rims and you need hub centric rims like the OEM ones. Hence why he'd need a ring to get the rims on, they can't be mounted without them. That's probably why he needs different lug nuts too.

dylan, most places don't keep track of vehicles as far as wheel vs hub centric goes. They just list the wheels, offset, and bolt pattern and it's up to you to find out whether you need wheel centric or hub centric rims.

You'll need exactly what they said, you need a hub centric ring for the wheels and new lugnuts. Basically what it's for is to center the wheel on the hub. If you look at the stock wheel and the stock hub, there is a ring on the hub like a little lip in the center, then there's an indented ring on the rim. The ring on the rim sits around the outside of the ring on the hub. So basically what you need is a ring that will go on the new rim that centers it on the stock hub.

The other possibility is that you need a spacer for the wheel and that's what they're talking about. What offset are the wheels, do you know offhand? Did they tell you what exactly it was you needed - a spacer or hub centric ring, or did they not specify?

Dylan, where did you get the rims?? I'd call them and bitch.
I thought pretty much all the good wheel retailers include any centering rings and lugs you might need.

I would call the place where you got the wheels and complain first, see what they can do. Ask if they sell the stuff you need. The lugnuts you can most definitely buy at an auto parts store, hell, you could by those right at PepBoys I'm sure. The ring? I don't know, it might be specific to the wheel you bought, I'm not real sure.

not to be picky but this is in the wrong spot, it has nothing to do with 2.0 engine performance, you should move this to the tires and wheels section

Most tuner wheels do not have a circle around the lugs big enough for stock lug nuts. They require what is called a "tuner lug," which are smaller in diameter. They can be purchased at Pep Boys, local tuner shop, online, etc. As for your hub-centric rings, all you need to do is remove the little retaining rings that are around your wheel studs so your new wheels will sit flush. They are used to hold the disk on during the plant assembly process, but are not needed. After that, your wheels will go on just fine.

Please post a picture of your wheel (front/back) so I can give you more details.

No no no. He needs HUBCENTRIC rings for the wheel to bolt up to the ACTUAL HUB surface of the rotor.

Slight correction.

The wheels will bolt up. THEY WILL NOT sit flush against the rotor. For this, you need HUBCENTRIC rings.
