They dont make off the shelf rods for the 2.0L. Maybe the 2.2L which are longer.... But not the 2.0L.

Sorry Aaron but they can be bought, maybe not just drop shipped a set at a time.
JBP rods are made by Pauter, as are the HD rods I am using.
These are both 2.0 direct replacement parts.

And I see the crower part # has also been shared.

Crower's catalog says:
"B93980B-4
Specs based on stock sample. No changes in dimensions.4 cyl Custom "

So its just their part number for a custom rod. So that means someone has to send them a LSJ rod sample then right? Or do you call them up and just ask for an LSJ replacement?

Thats just a generic part number for a custom 4 cylinder rod made to stock specs. Any rod made for any 4 banger not in their catalog will have that part number if its a direct copy of the rod you provide them.

http://www.crower.com/pdf/157-172.pdf

Scroll down to page 163 under custom applications.

Edit: ^^Beat me to the punch.

Yeah they will make them, we are saying not an "off the shelf item" most places will custom make internals

Will the cylinder walls have to be rehoned? Or will I need new sleeves? In light of the recent thread created

How many miles are on the car? It would be best to have the cylinder walls honed so the new rings seal properly unless you plan on using the stock rings. Stock rods and Diamond forged slugs seem to be where it's at.

As a side note is the meth running any better for you?

52k on the clock. How do you know a good place that can rehone the walls? I'm sure it's a very precise procedure.

I couldn't really tell you. Between that, the boost controller and the BOV the car seems to be kind of angry - think i'm hitting some sort of fuel cutoff. Throttle dies and there is no power, have to let off the pedal and then press it again to get the power back. At the time this happens the SID says traction and stability control failure. Not sure what it is, i'm working on it.

I just need a tune!

Definitely need a tune and need to remove the granny control mode! I wonder if HPTuners supports your PCM. You might want to check it out.

As for the 52K on the clock, I would get it honed for the new rings. Any good local machine shop can do the task easily. Just find one that the local racers use. In Charleston there is a place called Simmons that's off the beaten path on a dirt driveway for that matter , but they do phenominal machine work and their prices are more than fare. Recommended by everyone in town, and the Cobalt has ran it's best after they resurfaced my cylinder head!

Quite a noob to actually building a motor. Does the engine need to come out of the car when inserting new cylinders/rehoning the walls? This car is my DD
