Ported Blower

Anyone tried this yet? There are a number of outfits that port blowers for the 03/04 Cobras and get some good gains. One such company is Apten.

Any word if someone will try this for you guys? It's nice because the dealer would never be able to tell.

If I could find a place around here to do it I would. They typically do show nice gains.

I'll be trying this out around here if I can find a good company that would do it. We've got a place called LA Styling that is over in Thetford (About 20 mins away) who does some serious Euro Work (Hell, they all do Euro work, I'm in England). I'll give them a call today and see if they'll port my blower when it gets here. I'll keep you guys updated.

Woah...

I spoke with the guys at LA Styling - they've never heard of the car before. (Obviously since I'm in the UK and they're not over here. Their version I guess is the Austra or something... Don't know.)

Basically this is what he told me;

British...:
"We can port ye blowa' mate, it's no prob at tall'. We would need a look at ya mo'a (motor for you english speaking guys.) before we get you an estimate on it. Since we neva seen dis before, You could bring it by, an we could also sort you out a ONE-OFF BO'E KIT. Is sat O'rite?"

Translation:
"Yes, we can port your blower with no problems. Bring the car down for us to take a look at it. Since we've never seen it before, you could also get a One-Off body Kit. How's that?"

I'm excited. I also asked him if they'd do the graphic rendering for me first before I get it done so that I can sit and analyze it better before making my final decision. Most definately YES. Things are about to get interesting.

I think the cost from Apten is around $500 USD or so. Don't quote me on it, but that's a good extimate. Keep in mind they deal with the M90 Eaton on the Cobras and Lightnings.

porting a blower is VERY easy. I just completed my first m90 a few days ago. All you need is a die grinder and some bits. If the m62 is like the m90, itll have some casting at the bottom of the outlet so it is not a perfect triangle. All you need to do is to get a cutting bit (kind of looks like a drill bit, but is made for cutting) and cut those small chunks out. Now get a tapered porting bit and make an edge ON THE INSIDE of the blower of the outlet. It should be skinny on top and thick on the bottom. Then polish up the outside of the outlet to a mirror finish. Then get a cylindrical porting bit and port out the inlet a little to match the throttle body. Get a sand paper bit and smooth it out. Here are some before and after pics to let you visualize it.

If you had another picture of the inlet side, it would help.

I was planning on taking my blower off and do the porting myself. It doesn't look too challenging.
