No idea who's car this is, the validity of installing a fan over the blower, what else is done, but thought this looked neat and figured i'd share for discussion.

Yeah I thought it was interesting, when i first saw it i didn't recognize it was an LSJ and thought it was some strange fan/leafblower-turbo thing

Then i looked deeper and thought 'hmm!' I mean it can't hurt, haha.

 

I wouldn't think that would have significant benefit at all as engine bay air is heated and the small ribs on the SC aren't really cooling fins. Also having the fan mated up against the SC that tight there isn't going to be very much airflow.

 

Seems like that would take forever

It likely adds more heat from increased engine load

 

Put some ice in the option b tank ��

 

Ice in an Opt. B tank wont do anything....

Now if you have a flow through reserve tank (ie. ice box) that will work.

 

Won't help cool the blower off but it helps with the temps. I did it last weekend and it lowered my iat2 15+ degrees lol

 

Phenolic spacer makes it so the blower barely gets warmer than ambient. Also doesn't look awful like a fan right on top of it

 

Does anyone besides zzp sell that? They are out of stock.

 

But its prone to causing vac leaks due to not sealing correctly in some cases.

 

ive ran over 30 psi and meth thru it with good results
high tack gasket spray is your friend with the paper gaskets they give you

 

I've used both copper RTV on a bare phenolic spacer as well as the high tack spray on the paper gaskets. The high tack spray on the paper is definitely the way to go and you'll especially thank yourself when it comes time to remove it again. Yielded a good seal both ways. The steady state temperature of my blower and IM are way lower with it than without it. It takes a lot longer to heat soak sitting still too.

That's a member on here, he tracks the car, and IIRC claims it lowers the temperature of the blower (not the IAT but the blower itself) by 10 degrees.

As for the phenolic spacers, I installed a set for a local guy, best single cooling mod you can do. His car is on E85 anyway but I couldn't believe how low the IAT2 temps were with just a dual pass and spacers in our south FL heat.

 

Waste of a good fan...

 

So does the spacer work? It seems like I've seen people argue either way. I have opt B, dual pass, and zzp HE in parallel with stock and it sucks driving my car when it's 90+ out.

 

What are your engine temps running?
It was 99 here yesterday. AC was great but engine temps were running much higher.

 

Engine coolant is usually around 185 or so when it's hot out. My IAT2 will be around 125-130 cruising if it's 95 or so outside.

 

That's a very good temp for the coolant. If you haven't done it recently, you may need to pull the Lamanova cores out and clean them.

 

My cruising temp was 110-115 the other day and it was 95-100 outside.
