PSI FI or GM Upgrades
Why would we need the PSI-FI Kit anymore if we would be getting either Stage 1 and/or Stage 2 if the ECU reflash is the same for both Stage's? All we would need to do is just buy the 2.8" Pulley from SFPH for like $130 and Stage 1 and we'd probably get the same results as the PSI-FI kit or unless your talking about tuning the PSI-FI Kit even further than Stage 1 or 2? and even if there is a GM Stage 3 would it be the same ECU reflash as the rest?
Because you could run the GM Stage 1 with a small pulley and the PSI-Fi kit would be tuned exactly for the two upgrades to work together. The fuel curves would be better, It would be even better if they tuned it to having an intake as well so no CEL's would be thrown.

That's the whole point of the GM Stage 1 upgrade is the ECU reflash because it will consist of new parameters that are not so tight. Which will allow us to use a CAI without throwing any CEL's and also will dump more fuel into the engine. So there would be no point for the PSI-FI Kit

I think everyone expects to pay more from GM but you do get to keep your warranty. GM won't get crazy with their pricing because they are selling to a young financially challenged crowd (mostly). That same crowd will be the ones shopping for real sports cars in the future and brand loyalty goes a long way with cars.
Just my $.02

We now all know what they consist of but I've heard from alot of members that were at Sema say there was no pricing on it. Then all the sudden your ass comes out of the dark hole you've lived in and ****'s out a price of $700!! Ok everyone I wouldn't get your panties in a bunch, I'm calling he really has no clue what he's talking about. I know if I was the one that had found this info I would have plastard it all over the front page of this site, and your gonna believe someone that just says "O it's 700 dollars" out of the blue. Ease up there Devil Dog!! You don't know what he saw and who he talked to or the fact that he just got back from Vegas. You also don't know that he started a new thread listing details on another forum. I can see why he would be hesitant to give any information here with members like you.

You could easily justify a $700 Stage 2 price as follows
$300 4- injectors @ $75 each (approx retail price of the current LSJ injectors)
$50 1- belt $50 (shorter)
$150 1- quick change 77.9mm pully $150
$225 3 hrs labour (flat-rate warranty time+40% @average GM warranty rate of $75/hr)
$725 Total (close enough IMO)
Stage 1 would be just the injectors and reflash and approx 2 hrs. Do the math
COULD GM decide to market these at $1500?? Maybe, but they wouldnt sell many. They realize these kits represent a fundamental shift in the manner in which they support cars like the SS and Redline. And GMPD and PP are just as aware they're walking financial tight-rope that spans their own future success with cars like the Cobalt SS, Redline,Solstice/Sky and other SS and V-series cars. If they appear to be in any way "gouging" their already loyal following with the release of these kits, there certainly could be no doubt in the potential ramifications.
Just my opinion of course

Guys please keep the personal assualts out of threads. It doesn't make the community look good and it certainly doesn't make you look good.
There are lots of people with lots of sources of info, some good, some bad. People are just exciting and trying to share their info with the lot of us. You don't have to believe it all, but you certainly don't have to attack others. We can all make decisions on what to believe for ourselves.

I figured this thread would be dead within a couple of days. i do thank all of you that responded for ur input. i had my mind set on the gm upgrades, i just wanted to see what everyone else was thinking. great responses. quite a bit of help...
with all this talk about how much it will cost for gm to install it, it reminded me of something. In many of the magazine articles, gm had said these upgrades could be "readily installed by the owner", if this is true, who knows.

From some of the technical information provided about the ECU flash, that could not be done by the consumer. The rest of the stuff could be easily done in yout backyard but the flash would most likely have to be done at the stealership in order to keep you from flashing your buddies car as well as some other technical reason that escapes my memory at this time.
See the main thing is that if the dealers know anything they aint talkin. i put in a email to gm and they said to contactmy local dealer. my local dealer don't know ****. they couldn't help me at all. when i called with the part number they told me to call back at the end of the month. i mean honestly gm is holding out and they ain't letting many people know ****. they release part numbers but no inventory is foudn in the computers. we know what the gm upgrades consist of(parts wise). but speaking for myself. i have no ******* clue what is going on with these upgrades, how hard they are to install. nothing. i know part numbers because of the sticky at the top of the forum. and i know gm is holding out and being lil bitches. why give us numbers and hope with no insite into what needs to be save or done to purchase these parts. HURRY UP GM.
