Pulley size ?

I'm looking to run a 2.7 pulley and need to know if it will clear the snout or not. Zzp says that a 2.8 is the smallest that can be run befor haveing to turn down the snot. I know alot of people on here run the 2.7 pulley and kind of find it hard to believe that all those peoplehave had to turn down there's

Honestly (and Lord knows there will be nay sayers coming in here after this), after a 2.8, your just beating a dead horse anyway. Either change out the blower, go turbo, or leave it alone. A 2.8 pretty much maxes out the rpm's of the blower anyway and you produce a ton of heat. Think of it like having an 8000rpm redline, but your power curve drops after 5500 -- it's pointless.

Supplement the power at a 2.8 and you'll be just as happy. It makes no sense to keep making the pulley smaller just because it's cheap and easy to do. Make power by getting a kickass set of headers and a thick downpipe. Your top end will be amazing (it's where i beat all my "big" kills). Port your heads, change the compression of your pistons (and forge while your at it). And don't forget that cooling has just as much to do with power as F/I -- don't overlook meth (you can choke upwards of 10 more hp out of a tune just from being able to run more timing).

Here's a good link to a an OLD thread on here when the people were knowlegeable (they all agree a 2.8 is the max for the M62 Supercharger):

If you use the ZZP Modular System, You can go down to a 2.7 without shaving the snout.

My 2.7 clears the snout fine. And I felt a nice increase in torque over the 2.8, but of course IATs climbed a bit. But Im on E85 as well. So unless you have meth or are running E85 I wouldnt drop below a 2.8

I have argued this point before myself but people rarely listen. A properly built and tuned LSJ can make its best power with an M62 with a 2.8" pulley. If you want to make more you are better off going turbo or TVS.

um i have a zzp pulley at 2.7 i had to grind the snout and i grinded the **** out of it for a 2.6 but yea its so easy so im not sure why thats the deal breaker for this?

also IM THE BALL BREAKER but i from what ive heard 2.5 they have dynojet proven gains from it. There is a guy down here whos ran a 2.6 with no cooling mods over mine in sig and been just fine. Its all depends if your gunna rape your car none stop. But even on a 2.8 if you get heat soaked and keep running it your going to run into problems a 2.5 and higher just make it happen faster. But your tq gains a good bit from droping i noticed good gains from droping to 2.6 from 2.8

but id just go 2.6 if your gunna go lower then a 2.8

Yes, not doing a bunch of pulls back to back, is going to help, but you are still playing with fire. 2.7 is already over-revving the supercharger.. you are making it pretty inefficient even if it is still making power. Factory is the most efficient so you can imagine dropping it that much how that will effect it. You can help balance it out with cooling though.

I saw what happens when you run a well tuned 2.7" without cooling mods. It took my engine 22k miles before It finally gave out completely, but my pistons looked like they went through hell.

I tried putting a zzp 2.7 on and it was a tad to small. Ill have to shave the snout down a tad to get it to spin freely.

Well reading all u guys have said and what I could find to read I made up my mind. I ordered the zzp stage 3 kit with the 2.8 pulley with the s3 h/e and dual pass end plate with option b. To help with the high flow I also got a header and high flow cat and I already have an injen cai and slp loudmouth cat back.
