Is it safe to run a 2.79 pulley on a gm stage 2 tune, if not whats the smallest you could use on a stage 2 tune safely

some people run 2.8's w/ stage 2 no problem, but the damage may happen depends most likely on what cooling mods you might have and how hard you drive your car. I prefer 2.9" i don't have the guts to go lower unless i get a custom tune and injectors.

Yeah, thats probably a bad idea, at least getting an exhaust may allow for some breathing room. With just intake mods all you get is heat and pressure build up from the supercharger.

Can you run a 2.8" with 42's? Sure
Will performance over 6000rpm be lacking with that combo? Yes

Want a 2.8" You WANT 60's or 50's

It can be done, and with proper tuning it can be made better.....with tuning and meth it can be made safe.

but just running 2.8 on the stage 2 setup is not what i would call safe.
its not OMG gonna blow up in weeks dangerous....but its not a setup i would suggest running for any long period of time.

the meth is making it safe by supplying the fuel (meth) that the injectors cant keep up with.

its not the cooling properties that makes a 2.8 pully doable....

hence a H/E will do nothing for the IDC problem

Meth is a bunch better than the cobra h/e...hell if I had hp tuners and some tuning knowledge I would go with meth, cobra h/e, and the intercooler plate...though I am just going to go with the last two since I have neither the knowledge or the software haha.

Edit: please do not go any lower than a 2.9" on stage 2 and if must only go down to 2.85 max.

IDC's with 42's and a 2.8" are bad.

Deffintly would not trust that...of course they want to sale the product and i mean of course a smaller pulley equals more boosst...though I say it will run it too lean and make everything hotter which is not good on #4 piston at all.

I would recommend cooling mods for anything below a stage 2 pulley which is the reason I took my 2.9" pulley off my car was I realized that I needed those cooling mods to optimize the pulley. Especially during the summer.

in their defence, for a good while, 2.8 was the golden mod.
everyone and their mother was running it on the S2 tune.
before people started realising the IDC issue....

alot of people have run it successfully with no issues....

but that doesnt mean its "safe"
