hey guys i saw a post a while ago about someone pulling the engine out of the top but i cant find it now and i need to do the same thing. im looking for a little help before i go ripping stuff apart.

i have it down to just the block and head but its still bolted to the tranny and the mounts. the oil pan is off currently but of course i can throw it back on.

i was thinking of just unhooking the axels from the transmission and pulling the engine and the transmission up but im not sure if thats possible with everything being over the top of the transmission.

so i was wondering how someone else has done it cause obviously it makes it a bit easier if i know what to do before i start.

 

I put and pulled from the top with the trans still on.

short breakdown

pull axels
take thermastat on the back or its a pita
no manifolds or ac pump or alt
rock the trans down very slow to give a slight angle
and it comes up diagonally on the passenger side\top

this is the jist of it

 

It works if you basically lift from the front of the engine, pulling the engine up with the trans basically below it.

It's not hard to take it out from the bottom though...

 

sweet its basically down to this i just have to finish taking the axels off.. thanks alot for your help
