Question about smaller pulleys

I have the stage 2 kit on my car and am wanting more power...how small of a pulley can I put on that will work with the stage 2 belt? and how much of a power increase could I expect out of this pulley?

I am running a 2.5 with the stock belt. So you can pretty much go as low as you want. With my current setup, I expect 285-290whp but I have yet to get a dyno.

You can go down safely to a 2.8" pulley with the GM Stage 2 tune, this will put you around 18psi, but a smaller pulley really adds more torque than anything.

You don't have a larger idler pulley?

With him having the belt that comes with the Stage 2, he should be fine though...

thats awesome! now here's another question will the stage 2 injectors keep up with the 2.5? also is it just a matter of taking off the supercharger and slappin that pulley on?

No way, he has 60# injectors

He'd need a lot more to get that high of hp...he would definitely have to get a big cooling system (my current project) which will allow him to get it tuned and that will allow more timing, etc.

Yeah I of course got the bigger injectors and a tune. The larger tensioner pulley too. But I was just staying if the only thing he was worried about was the belt, he will be fine.

+1...also, you will have to find a pulley with the same bolt pattern on it (or is the GM Stage kit a press on?), either way, it isn't as simple as slapping one on. To go for a 2.5" you need another tune, custom or INTENSE, a machined snout and as NoRemorse stated, 60# injectors.

You guys must have misunderstood me...I mean how small can I go without a tensioner pulley? the 2.8 as someone said earlier? plus just how small can I go with stage 2 injectors. All I'm wanting to basically do is keep it at stage 2 but with a smaller pulley as the only difference.

Well, if you want something easy, pulleyboys make a 2.8" pulley ring that fits the GM hub.

Otherwise, I have a ZZP 2.6" pulley that requires no machining.. it is yet to be out on tho bc i havn't gotten my injectors yet!

You can get the ZZP 2.6" without machining the snout. You would also need a hub too, the ring won't bolt up with the GM one. If you just want a little more power, get the 2.8" ring. That is a direct bolt on with the GM hub and you can also keep your injectors, tune, and belt.

Thanks everyone for your input...I've decided this pulleyboys 2.8 ring is exactly what I'm looking for. So when I get this thing, all I have to do is take the belt off and bolt on this new 2.8 ring?

precisely.....

You can also use the Mace (I think thats the brand) 2.79" pulley that is running around on ebay for about $65. That will bolt up directly to the GM hub as well.
